  • Monday Night Football Week 12: Packers @ Hawks

    YTD 40-29-1

Tonite I like the Packers and The over

GREEN BAY PACKERS +10.5 @ SEATTLE SEAHAWKS & The OVER 41.5
Green Bay (4-6 away) at Seattle (6-4, 4-1 home) @ 8:30 PM. EST * ESPN

Brett Favre's mind-boggling streak of consecutive starts is expected to continue on Monday night, when he leads the Green Bay Packers onto Qwest Field to battle the Seattle Seahawks.
Favre started his 251st straight game (regular season & playoffs) last week against the New England Patriots, but left the tilt for good after injuring a nerve in his right elbow in the second quarter.

Aaron Rodgers came into replace Favre, before having his season ended with a broken left foot. Green Bay signed veteran backup Todd Bouman to take over for Rodgers in the No. 2 QB slot.

The Packers wound up losing the game to the Pats, 35-0, and Favre completed just 5-of-15 passes for 73 yards.

Meanwhile, Seahawks head coach Mike Holmgren will host his former employer and his old friend Favre in the primetime affair. Holmgren was a rookie head coach with the Packers in 1992 when Favre posted the first start in his amazing string.

Seattle is expecting to have QB Matt Hasselbeck in the starting lineup on Monday after he missed the last four games with a strained right knee. Hasselbeck is listed as probable for this week's game.

Last week, the Seahawks had running back Shaun Alexander in the lineup for the first time since late September, and still lost, 20-14, at San Francisco.

    SERIES HISTORY
Green Bay owns a 6-4 lead in its all-time regular season series with Seattle, including home wins in both 2003 and 2005. The Packers downed the Seahawks, 23-17, in a Week 17 game last season when Seattle rested most of its starters after clinching the NFC's No. 1 seed. The Hawks last defeated the Packers in 1999, when they prevailed at Lambeau Field by a 27-7 count. Green Bay is 1-1 all-time in Seattle, with a win there in 1996 and a loss at the Kingdome in 1987.

In addition to the regular season series, the teams have faced off once in the playoffs, with Green Bay winning a 33-27 overtime matchup in a 2003 NFC First- Round Playoff.

Holmgren is 1-3 against his former team, including the '03 playoff loss. The Packers' Mike McCarthy will be meeting both Holmgren and the Seahawks for the first time as a head coach.

    OVERALL ANALYSIS
The Seahawks have battled through some major injuries this year, and should be happy to still be in first place in the NFC West. Now, for the first time in nearly two months, they will have their No. 1 quarterback and running back on the same field. Seattle will also be glad to be back at Qwest Field, where it is 4-1 this season. Green Bay will likely have Favre under center and that's a good sign, but it won't be enough to lead the Pack to victory.

    • Over is 5-1 in Seahawks last 6 vs. NFC.
    • Over is 14-3 in Seahawks last 17 vs. a team with a losing record.
    • Over is 4-1 in Seahawks last 5 Monday games.

    Weather:
Forecasts are calling for a 60 percent chance of precipitation in Seattle Monday evening, which could result in rain or possibly snow during this game.

Kickoff temperature is expected in the low-to-mid 30s and is likely to drop as the game progresses. Wind is expected to travel east at five mph.

I have to vent. Yea I'm fan, but that's irrelavent. If GB looses this game it is NOT because Seattle played better. It's because these fucking refs have continously bailed out the Seahawks.

What about all the other games they have lost though? Just like the Bucs Bro...they stink this season. :P

What about the other games? I'm talking about this game. When GB should have won, they would be tied with 4 other teams that are one game behind for the wild card spot. Maybe they loose more in the coming weeks and it dosn't matter, but this one just really pissed me off. When my Packers have struggled so hard and were doing well, to have it taken away like that...

I agree. Just bustin' your balls about GB Bro. There were some bad calls, but 3 INT's that Brett threw didn't help either.

Yea, but two of those came when he had to try and make something happened in the last 4 minutes. Seattle shouldn't have even had a chance to make the last TD. So then all he would have to do is get in field goal range. Makes a big difference in how you have to play.

:hmmm: So you agree. :P Favre is known for his 4th quarter comebacks and with that in mind I can imagine he was rushing his passes, trying to make something happen.

That's the point. The Brett of old could actually make something happen when the game was on the line with much less than 4 minutes to work with.

That's not the point. I wasn't talking about if Favre still has it. I hated that the game got taken away by the refs, when the Packers had there rythm.

He definetely isn't the Brett Favre of old. I don't think he has the same supporting cast he used to either. But it has to be difficult to make comback type throws in the snow, when the nerves in your wrist doing fully allow you to grip the ball!

Regardless of the refs, they apparently had an opportunity, which they didn't take advantage of. If the Packers defense hadn't let the Seahawks score all their other points, if this, if that....the refs never decide the game. They may make bad calls at bad times, but that doesn't decide the game. The game comes down to execution. Go out there and execute and it doesn't matter if the refs make bad calls against you, you're going to win. End of story.
