You mean any top ranked SEC team or just any SEC team? They beat Kentucky 59 - 28 on 9/2.

I will agree that it looked like their defense has more holes in it than swiss cheese when they played WVa, but the time for bowl preparation will allow their defense to prepare a little more for a more traditional SEC approach while they also add more wrinkles into the offense. Also, Louisville's #'s should be a little higher on defense because their defense is on the field more because their offense is a quick strike offense, so their D may not be as bad as advertised. A lot of people saw that one game w/WV and wrote them off.

    A look inside the #'s...

    Louisville avgs. 38 pts/g & 468 yards/game...280 passing & 187 rushing
    defense avgs. 16.5 pts/g & 322 y/g...222 passing & 100 rushing

    Ark avgs. 30 pts/g & 384 y/g...148 passing & 236 rushing
    defense avgs. 16 pts/g & 299 y/g...182 passing & 117 rushing

Louisville has played & beaten quality opponents...K. St. (beat Texas), Cinci (beat Rutgers & gave VPI a game), & WVa. Rutgers had to make a big comeback in order to win that game.

On the other hand, Arkansas played a similar type of offense in USC & gave up 50. USC only put over 40 two more times all year...Stanford (sucks) & ND (overrated). Some of Arkansas' wins have not been that impressive...beat Vandy by 2 & Alabama by 1.

In the pros a good defense is more important than a potent offense. However, in college ball an offensive coordinator can be a DC's nightmare at bowl time.

Anyway, I don't really give a shit how it shakes out & I'm cool with seeing the SEC do very well in the bowls...just giving my .02.

That ND getting in based on their name is BS, but they'll get rocked for it...next year especially as Willingham's recruits are no longer under Weiss. Also, if I were a betting man, I'd go against every pick I made...you'll probably make a lot of money. :xmas:

The only scary thing about this for the SEC is that Kentucky gave pretty much every one of their conference opponents one hell of a run for their money this year - they aren't exactly the cupcake team we've gotten used to seeing from there these last few years...

I could eat my words here, but I don't think louisville stands any chance against any of the top half of the SEC. That includes Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Arkansas, LSU, and Auburn.

Like I said, I hope they get the sweep.....I don't really think they can, but I do think the top 3 or 4 SEC teams will win their respective bowls.

Bro, if we get the sweep, that'll give us at least a 5 year, undisputed reign as toughest conference in college football. Nobody could even argue otherwise.

Florida dominated Kentucky. 39 yds rushing.

That first half was a nightmare for FL from what I remember but I was drinking too so...

I know that "half" of a game doesn't constitute a real picture of things but it was definetly something I saw as making FL less than the best in my eyes....

What do you guys think about Leak & Teebo? Personally, I think Teebo will be a better fit under Meyer's system. I don't think Leak is sturdy enough to run the option. Teebo is a horse.

Leak is not a good fit for Meyer's system. That was the problem last year. Meyer kept trying to run his system with Leak, and Meyer didn't do a good job of adjusting his game planning around the talent level of his players. He's done a much better job of that this year, and has done a solid job of using Tebow strategically. Still, though, Meyer can't fully open his offense until Tebow is in full time. I can't wait to see what happens next year!!

                    Tebow + Harvin + Gator D = National Championship

Not sure about the whole FL deal. When Meyer got hired he said that he would have the Gators offense at the point where it was when Spurrier was there. So far, they're not even close. Good football team, but not great yet. He needs a few years of solid recruiting, but I'm sure they'll be back to that up tier shortly. It's funny how the face of the SEC has changed over the last 5 years with AU and LSU dominating the West and the East has a handful of great teams that are just stumbling around right now. Even though UT had a good year, I think it was somewhat of a fluke and don't believe they'll be that good next year.

Rivals Recruit Ranking the past 6 years...2002 - 2007...I'm saying 2002 because redshirts would be participating this year from that class. 2007 is just projected. Anyway, my point is that all SEC classes are pretty good. These are high school evaluations, some players are overrated/underrated, defections & injuries can't be accounted for, but this is a good estimate.

Based on the #'s...UF has the talent. Just a question if it fits Meyer's needs. LSU is very stout & it appears that UGA isn't maximizing their talent.
