  • Man vs. Wild...

    Anyone else watch this....

Yeah, I watch it because I like anything about survival and the outdoors, BUT it isn't anywhere near as realistic or in sigthful as Survivorman. Les Stroud is the man.

I like it, he ran like a bitch when he though a bear was outside his tent.

I have seen both, and I agree that surviorman is a little more intense. I like Man vs Wild better, he actually shows you how to get out of crazy situations. For instance he just jumped into a frozen lake to show you how to survive hypothermia. Plus the crazy stuff he eats, like last night he found a dead zebra and just cut of the meat and ate. Either way they are both great shows.

Yeah I like Bear from Man vs Wild but he has a film crew that follows him and they show some 'what if' scenarios, but it seems cheesy sometimes cuz it's so scripted. Survivorman does all his own recording and puts himself in an actual inhospitable environment and shows how to survive.

That kind of turned me off at first but I figure they're in it for the money too so they do what they feel they need to do etc...

I will have to check out the Survivorman show asap....

I watched the full episode this morning - my dvr says that it is set up to record something like 9 episodes in the next 14 days...

Let's just say that I hope they get better than the one where he strands himself on the beach....

BTW - how did he get on the beach in sandals and leave in boots??????

He hikes in/is abandoned with a set amount of gear appropriate to whatever he is simulating...

I do think he is particularly ingenious, and can only imagine the PITA it must be to lug camera gear around, set it up, walk by it, and then walk back and pick it up...lol.

It's not the most exciting show, but being an outdoors enthusiast I do enjoy it and find it mentally stimulating, something that I can't say about most TV shows. That and I shop at the same gear outfitters he does, so I feel vindicated in my equipment choices :D
