The guy on Man VS Wild has alot more knowledge and backround then the guy from survivorman. Thing I dont like about survivorman is that he is usually trying to teach a lesson about what you shouldn't do. Problem is, usually at the end of the show he does all the things he tells you not to do. lol. He says things like, "I really shouldnt be doing this but I am too tired right now".

The man VS wild guy drinks water out of elephant shit! That is hardcore.

I don't know if he has more knowledge, but he does have a lot of formal training. He's bad ass no doubt. Between the two shows there is a lot of useful survival knowledge that is shared.

I agree - the Survivorman finds a river leading into the ocean when he's stranded on the beach but he just goes hiking blindly into the jungle a few days later - then he stumbles across a stream leading back to the ocean after he's given up on finding civilization and he's all excited - WHY IN THE HELL didn't he just follow the river he found the first day into the jungle - dork...

Yeah - the Bear guy does that hardcore stuff like it's nothing - he's just like "ooh look - elephant dung - let's have a drink - not what I prefer but my mouth isn't dry anymore" - wtf :P....

So you watch one episode (not that closely obviously) and now you're the expert and he's the dork....lol....the guy creates common scenarios and then shows things that can happen based on your decisions. He even says that you would not want to go into the jungle because it is so dense that you wouldn't find your way and that the beach front is the best bet of being seen and surviving. But he stomps his way around in the jungle to demonstrate how difficult it would be.

BLM, let me ask you this. If you were trapped somewhere, which guy would you rather have there to help you survive? The guy from Man VS Wild is just much better skilled in everything.

You guys kill me. You act like Les Stroud is just some guy out and about in the wilderness w/o any skills. Granted Bear is incredibly skilled. He's formally trained in the British Special Forces (you don't get much better then that), but I enjoy Survivorman much better when I watch them because it seems less 'Hollywood edited' and I appreciate the fact that he has to film everything on his own. I enjoy both programs and take any knowledge I can from them both as well.

As far as your question....I guess it would depend on the scenario. In the arctic environments Les (Survivorman) seems to have more experience as for anything else Bear (Man vs Wild) would be my choice.

Okay - I've seen pretty much all of both of these shows - I'm still picking the Man vs. Wild guy if I'm going into one of these situations with a guide :P...

BTW - when the hell are they EVER going to air new episodes of either one of these shows....

Bear is surely the more experienced and trained survivalist, but as far as the show...I enjoy the Survivorman a lot more.

One of the things that bothers me the most about Man vs Wild is that he is always moving hastily. And one of the basics elements of survival is to always move carefully, w/a sure foot, yet w/a purpose. His show goes more for the shock factor imo...'oh my, did he just drink water from elephant shit'...wow now look at him run, lol

                        You're WEIRD :P...

I spend the entire time watching Les Stroud wanting to smack him in the damn mouth - shut the hell up for Pete's sake....

Survivorman seems more like he wants to just "survive" wherever he is stuck - Man vs. Wild is much much more proactive in saving himself......

I suppose they shouldn't both be looked at in the same light since they're somewhat different shows BUT I like Man vs. Wild much better so I'm going to make fun of the other show just because I'm like that :D....

I just found out about Man vs. Wild a few weeks ago and Im addicted to that show. Bear has a huge amount of knowledge and skill in outdoor survival. I like the way that each show has a scenario that could actually happen.

New season comes on June 15th at 9pm on Discovery. "Bear drops into the everglades where he slogs through the swamp dodging alligators and rattlesnakes."

                                Looking forward to it.

On that note, the environment down here such as the swamp areas make me so uncomfortable. I couldn't imagine going stomping through that shit. I'm a northern outdoors man.
