He sure is badass and I wouldn't want to get in the ring with him without a shotgun, but fuck I hate that guy. Kickin people in the back of the head while they're on the canvas, punchin em after they're flat out on their back not moving at all and even after they've tapped out and the ref has called the match. The sport is violent enough by nature without adding that shit. The point is to make your opponent submit not to hurt them or even knock them out. Of course the ultimate is to render them unconscious, but the point isn't to incapacitate them. The only reason to kick someone in the back of the head when they're already on the canvas in the fetal position is to hurt them. He's got a deadly kick and when it lands in the act of combat that's fine. But when he goes after someone that's already down and adds a kick to the head for good measure...fuck that. Someone could really get hurt that way. It's just not neccessary. I'm not saying he sucks. I just hate how he approaches the sport.

Wow, I agree w/BB...lol. That is why I like UFC more than Pride. Not allowing a fighter to get kicked in the head while he is down helps ensure the longevity of the fighter in the sport. MMA is risky enough as it is. I would love to see him get his ass kicked in UFC, but realisticly there isn't anyone capable of doing it right now, imo.Originally posted by babybluesHe sure is badass and I wouldn't want to get in the ring with him without a shotgun, but fuck I hate that guy. In related news...Randy Coture is un-retiring to fight Sylvia. You could see it coming...over the past couple of UFC PPVs, Randy looked to be very muscular in spite of trying to hide it under long sleeved black shirts. Looked like he was in shape for a heavyweight fight...and it turns out, he is. Randy should wipe the mat with Sylvia. I hope Randy doesn't end up in there with Cro Cop, though.

I hear what you guys are saying about the kicks to the head while down and what not. But couldn't it be argued that if the opponent was down and the ref didn't stop the fight, yet Cro Cop just stood there and allowed him to recover, he would be missing the opportunity to win? Not that I am for people getting seriously injured, but you have to finish the fight when you can.

He approaches the sport to win, just as ALL Fighters do. He's no different than any other figher. Given the chance, you bet they'd kick him in the back of the head.... thats his job, its what he does.... I wish UFC would quite being pussies and adapt to Pride Rules... wont ever happen, but its wishful thinking...

Of course he approaches his fights to win just like any other fighter. And you're right, if given the chance any opponent would do whatever it took to gain the advantage and /or victory. But allowing a fighter to knee or kick another fighter in the head while he is down is ignorant (IMO). Kicking a man while he is down is weak and cowardly...where is the honor in that? To me that is like shooting a man in the back. Implementing rules that prohibit this not only help the fighter maintain his cognitive abilities but it also forces fighters to be more resourceful and better trained in order to gain victory.

I agree with you.... if it were a street fight. This is all sanctioned and in reality, the fighters health is always priority #1. When you put money AND honor/respect on the line, these gentlemen are going to do what it takes to win. Youre saying its not ok to kick them in the face when theyre down, but its ok to mount and pummel them until theyre a mess and the ref. jumps in and stops it?
Guess they should just outlaw striking....
