Anyone on here have it done?

I had mine done last Friday. I had the option to do the traditional lasik or the custom lasik and I spent the extra 600 dollars and went with the custom. If you eyes are average, the traditional is fine, but since my pupils are larger than normal, they recommended it. The procedure was relatively painless, no actual pain. My eyes watered a little on the hour ride home, the slept for 4 hours (valium). Woke up and could see almost as good as I ever did with contacts in. Went to the eye doctor today for a follow up and all looks great and I'm seeing 20/15. My eyes were terrible before. Thur before the surgery, I could see the top line of the alphabet thing. I couldn't tell if the E was a E or a 3. I HIGHLY recommend this to anyone who has ever even considered it.

I paid 3360 for the Custom Lasik for both eyes. A doctor out of Tulsa who owns the Triad Laser Center did the surgery in Joplin, MO at the Joplin Eye Laser Center. Dr. Mark Able.

I held the money out of my check through the flex spending account at work. It's a tax free, interest free loan.

    Just curious.

I want it but I'm scared! Up until this year numerous eye dr's discouraged me from getting it. Now they say I 'should' have great results. My eyesight is bad enough and thats not a risk I'm comfortable taking right now. But damn it would be nice to not have to put contacts in or wear my glasses.

2 years ago, the wife of a guy I know had it done and now her vision is worse than it originally was and she has permanent light halos. However, the success rate is better that the failure.

Where I went, 98% of ALL patients have 20/40 or better after the surgery. My aunt whom is a Dr had it done there and another aunt on the other side of the family had it done there. Everyone is really please with the results. I have a slight Halo effect but it should lessen over the next month or so. It's probable that I will have a slight halo for life, but you really don't notice it. The benefits way outweigh the sides in my opinion.

I'm thinking of it too. I'd like to wake up to a burgular at night, and not have to put in contacts before I go hunting for him.

I had laser eye surgery this summer. One thing to think about is that Lasik is not appropriate for everyone. If your corneal thickness doesn't fall within their tollerances for the surgery or you play cantact sports, they usually reccomend getting the other procedure done. It ends up being more painful and taking longer to heal, but the end result is the same, or it was in my case.

True - I've had 5 or so family members get it done and they all love it - I think I'm due :)

I think part of what Meat is talking about, is that we don't know the long term effects yet.

Yeah like in thirty years if there are side effects, thats my concern. Don't mean to scare anyone. Just my problem with the whole thing I guess.
