  • How low is it to steal someone's dog?

It's been a week now that someone stole my boxer, Harley. He is a 2 year old brindle male. He's close to 90# and built solid as a rock. I bought him for his looks, because I wanted to breed him to 2 female boxers that I have. I had a lot of money tied up in him, but money is not the issue. I raised him from 5 wks old until last Thur. I spent over 200$ on getting his ears cropped and had a heck of a time getting them to stand up, but in the end, they did an excellent job. I had him in my fenced in back yard on a 20 ft log chain which was attached to a heavy duty tie out stake. The chain was attached with a carribeaner (d clip) and the same hooked to his authentic Harley Davidson collar. He is a very smart boxer, as most are. I guess he got bored last Thursday because he managed to unhook the carribeaner from the tie out stake and somehow got out of the fenced in back yard. It's a rental house and I've complained to the owner that I didn't think much of the fence and wanted it fixed up better. Needless to say, he hasn't done anything about it. Harley got out and cruised around the neighborhood for a while and got tired, so he went up on my front porch and waited on me to come home. Someone called the PD and reported himi running around because he is very intimidating looking. So the dog pound guy was headed over to pick him up, but when he got there, a guy was loading him into his blazer and said that it was his dog and he would take care of it. The dog pound guy SHOULD have got the tag # of the vehicle, and some information or ID from the guy. He did not.

I do have a description on the vehicle and the guy. I reported that to the PD department and filed a stolen property report. The cops in town have a listing of all of the vehicles that match that description and they are checking addresses for me.

I placed an ad on the local cable channel.
I placed a picture and ad in the county newspaper.
I have placed over 30 posters in town at businesses with a picture and information about him.
I have posters up at all of the surrounding towns.
I have it being announced on the radio station in town.
I have driven around for countless hours trying to get lucky and run across the person who took him, or the vehicle or maybe even Harley.

I would like to know what would posses a person to walk up to someone's front porch and take someone's dog. To lie to the dog pound guy and tell him that it is your own is a sign that he's not going to be giving it back. He's either going to keep it for himself or sell him for god knows what reason.

If I get him back, I will press charges and try to make them stick.
I can say this, if I find out who took my dog, they will never ever forget me.
I've got a sadistic side to me that some people wish they had never seen.
I can turn off my morals and self conscious and justify about anything I want to do. Eye for an eye.

Damn bro I had a tough time ready that. Very sorry to hear about that. I can't imagine how I would be if someone took my dog. He is like my son. He's also a boxer and I had him since he was 10 weeks old. Now he is 8. He is a huge part of my life. I think of him as a son. I hope you find out who did this and they pay heavily. I would have a tough time not ripping the guys f'n head off if I was able to confront him. I truly hope you find your dog.

sorry to hear that bro. I can imagine what your going through bro. I too got dogs, especially a boxer who looks like yours but doesnt have his ears cropped. We get so attached to them like family since raising them since thier babies. I would go nuts if someone told me they took mine away. I'd do anything for them. I wish you the best bro, in trying to find your dog, he will show up.

Good ole Arkansas..... I am originally from KS and moved here because of my job. The town is relatively small, around 4500 people. There's some really nice people here, but then, there's the usual dirt bag meth heads that would steal anything to get a fix. I know the cops are looking. I ran across a blazer that matched the description at a drive in fast food place today and stopped. He was an older guy (younger guy took him). I showed him a flyer that I have up around town and asked if he'd seen that dog. He said sorry, but no. He said that I was the 2nd person to ask him about that today. I asked who the other was and he said a big muscled up cop here in town. That's the guy at the gym who's helping me out. He got a list of the vehicles in the county that fit that year and description and is going around knocking on doors.

Thanks for your supportive comments. Boxers are special dogs. Unless you have one or have been around them, you truely don't understand that. Their personalities are like young children. Smart, curious, happy and always wanting to play. Harley was like a child to me. I am a single guy who lives alone. I have went through a lot in the last year and he was always there for me. He always did something goofy that made me laugh. I am very angry at the person who took him, feel sorry for him because of the level of person it takes to steal a guy's dog off of his front porch and lie blatantly to a law abiding officer who was only trying to do his job. I pitty him if I ever figure out who it is.

                Thanks everyone.

                Knox

                  UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!

                  I got Harley back!!!!!!

Some low life heard the radio station announce it over the radio that Harley was loose on the Street I live on. He picked him up and took him home. A informant for the sheriff dept saw a flyer I hung up and called it in that she knew where the dog was. The sheriff's dept called the local PD and they went to get my dog back. I was so happy to see him. The POS kept him to breed to his female. A warrant should be issued no later than Thur on felony theft charges. I'll watch the paper and they said I could see who it was that took him. The guy lives about 25 miles away in a little po-dunk town. I'm going to go talk to a lawyer after the charges are filed to see if I can get any money out of him, at least to cover the money I dropped to find him. If his female is bred, I should be entitled to more money. He had Harley in a little Piece of shit pen and he's lost about 10 pounds. Harley is now locked up outside like he is in Ft. Knox, he's going to be microchipped at the end of the week and tags have already been made. Right now he's inside chewing on rawhides and jerky treats. I am very lucky, I know that.

                  :-)

                  Knox
