  • Cordless Drill?

I've been looking at getting a cordless drill to do general household stuff. Does anyone recommend something under $50 or even a brand to stay away from?

I'm sure you can find a drill for the price your looking for, but I don't know how druable it may be. If I were you, I'd spend a bit more money and get one that works with a battery pack that can be expanded and used for other tools. I personaly like, (and have), the Dewalt 18V system. I have the drill, (hammer drill), circular saw, right angle drill, work lights, nail gun, jig saw and a couple of other things I can't remember right now. I have always had great service out of these tools and I would highly recommend the Dewalt system. You probably can find the drill alone if you shop around for $175.00 to $200.00. A bit more than your want to pay, but it will last you for the rest of your life. BB

Ridgid makes a great line of tools - cordless or not - they've also got THE best manufacturers warranty on the market...

Like BB said though - either save your money for a good one or don't buy one at all - you'll end up paying more in the end....

          Bosch
          DeWalt

I personally like this model Bosch 10.8V Litheon about $100 - (having the LED light is great) because it isnt bulky.

you will have to add another $50 for a spare battery

sorry i havent seen anything under $50 (cordless) maybe you can find a reconditioned unit or with the cord.

          try ebay? http://cgi.ebay.com/Bosch-18V-Blueco...QQcmdZViewItem

Milwakee makes some of the best cordless drills on the market. Ask just about any contractor. Go to Amazon.com and look at the reviews people have written about different drills. Amazon also has pretty good prices. Some they'll even ship for free.

My father just got a pretty nice setup at Sam's. It's a Kawasaki brand. 21.2 or 22.X Volts. Came with two batteries, and quick charger. All fits in a hard case. Something I like about it is that it has the LED that points at whatever you're drilling into. He got it for around $50 and I've put it through some hell. I drilled a couple of holes through some 2" pipe with 1/4 wall yesterday and it worked great. Sam's has a year satisfaction gaurantee, so if you dont' like it, just take it back. Just a suggestion. I personally have a 24V Black and Decker. I like it just fine, no problems at all, but it was higher than the Kawasaki and I got less with it.
