Well, if this measures up to Xbox standards....the PS3 is pretty much dead in the water. Xbox with Blu-ray? No contest.

Blu-ray is not the future bro. Disk format is temporary. On Demand and streaming HD content is the future. Fast Download HD content stored on your Hard drive is the future. That is a big reason for the new 360. Xbox Live as it stands right now is the only service that offers downloadable HD movies and programs.

Nobody will even remember HD DVD or Blu-Ray in 5 years.

As it says in the first sentence of the first article. :P

"The black Elite console has a 120GB hard drive and will go on sale in the US in April for $479.99."

That's true, but everyone was jumping on the "PS3 is also a Blu-ray player!!!" bandwagon and now Microsoft just put the kabosh on that advantage. Just one more reason not to buy a POS3. All technology will become outdated. 30 years from now, you'll be telling your grandkids about how you remembered when you could download HD content to your hard drive with the Xbox 360. They'll ask, "What's a hard drive?" because by then, you'll have a chip in your head that connects your brain directly to the net.

I do agree though, technology is obsolete by the time you get home and take it out of the box.

Probably not "need" so much as "have". Think about it though, your brain is capable of processing all of the input from your eyes, nose, ears, sense of touch all at the same time as well as monitoring and regulating internal organs. It also stores everything your've ever experienced. It's like a hard drive/CPU all in one. Just the amount of information your eye takes in in one second would take a room full of super-computers weeks to process and your brain processes it instantaneously. Not only that, it coordinates input from other senses and triggers a response. The instant you see something touch your skin, you feel it touch your skin. There's no lag time. And that's probably just one of a thousand things that your brain is doing at that moment. Anyway....I think it's fascinating to think of the possibilities. :D
