  • Getting a mac when the new Leopard Operating system comes out..

My Laptop is getting old and windows is getting kind of boring. (Vista is XP with pretty pictures so don't even mention it.) :)

The new Leopard Operating system coming in June looks pretty bad ass.

There's just not as much stuff that is compatible with mac though. I like mac, but it just seems like all the programs that I like to use aren't compatible with it. When it comes to graphic design though, you got to go with mac.

Mac does have its issues in terms of compatbility (mostly games and networking hardware), but for the basic user it usually doesn't pose too much of a problem. Mac's are great machines; they're incredibly stable when you have to change configurations a few thousand times a day (Windows machines literally shut down and/or lock up because they get to confused). They're not intitially user friendly because the platform is so different, but like anything else you get used to it. I think you'll find pros and cons as you use it, but I wouldn't expect that you'd be disappointed. But w/all that said...AMD's Opteron processors are the best on market imo, but again when you are using your computer for relatively basic functions the differences are like splitting hairs. It becomes more of a matter of preference.

All I can say is I love the OS, but don't drop their laptops. I've had Toshiba and HP laptops that I literally threw on the floor in my book bag and they were fine(I forget I'm carrying them with me sometimes). However the first time I accidentally let the powerbook slip off my lap and onto a floor there was a dent. I'm not a fan of their physical limitations.

I switched to a Mac almost five years ago and have never looked back. I use Windows at work and the ease of use is so obvious. But then again, I use the Mac for basic stuff like email, internet, etc... While the windows machine runs work-related applications.

Make the switch and I guarantee you will not be disappointed.

its official, I'm throwing out a >2yr old Apple laptop because it sucks. It official only runs Mozilla, Safari, and Adium. I've restored it, but eventually the HD continues to lose important system files because the drive is not protected well from droppage. GRRR. The worst part is, I want another one cause I like the OS so much and I don't want a Windows laptop. I guess I just have to be mature and treat it like fine crystal.

take it to an apple store and have them fix it. not worth it to throw it out.

Its just the hard drive. If I buy another HD, that will porbably solve my situation, but its the point of the situation nothing else...I was looking for a reason to get a new Macbook Pro anyway. I just ordered one on Sunday, lol.
