  • first tattoo question...

hey everyone. im getting my first tattoo today. so excited. im just wondering if any of you out there who have tattoos have some advice on how to take care of it and all of that.

also another thing i was wondering if i had to tip the artist once done and if so how much...

your input would be great. thanks!

They should give you instructions on how to take care of it. Make sure you keep the tattoo ointment on it until it is healed. Also keep it out of the sunlight. After my show coming up I'm going in to get my back piece competed. I have about 12 hours left. Can't wait until it is finished. What are you getting?

12 hours man? damn thats alot...whats the theme to your back piece?

my tattoo is just gonna be a bible passage... psalm 144:1 ... Blessed be the Lord my strength which teachet my hands to war and my fingers to fight. im getting it on my lower and in old english...

about the tip thing, is it required? did you tip your artist?
im hearing two different things but im just trying to make sure

Yeah you want to tip your artist. Its just like anything else if he did a really good job and you're happy with it then throw him a nice tip. But if he mispells one of the words I probably wouldnt give him a tip, in fact I would hold him down and tattoo his eyeballs. Seriously though dont put vitamin A+D on your tattoo, just put lotion on it and let it heal naturally. The thick ointments create some really nasty scabs that will get caught on clothing and get pulled off and mess up the underlying ink. I speak from experience.

just use something without color and without a scent, the ones with aloe in them seem to work well. Good Luck Bro, remember theres no crying in the tattoo chair

i have my whole damm body covered in tattoos (almost) and i never gave a tip thoes fuckers charge way to much antways. but like chopper said if you like it that much and you think he deserves a tip go ahead its your money. he is also right about the lotion dont use anything execpt regular lotion and thats only if it gets to dry and itchy. i use neutrigena(sp?) lotion but thats what i use everyday anyways.

Did you notice your tattoos got progressively worse? :P JK!

I tip the artist - but I've also always had a great price break on the work lol...

Keep your tattoo OUT of the sun - it will fade the ink so fast.....

Wait until your done your shows man. If it starts scabbing up you won't want to put protan on that. Also tanning is a no no right after you get it.

Unless they give you an awesome deal on an incredible tattoo there is no need for a tip, imo. Throw up some pics.
