Alright Shibby, I'll join you...I don't know what to say about draft choices other than to say Quinn is getting hammered and it'd be really ironic if he still went to Miami in Rd. 2...talk about hard feelings. I don't think they'd do that to him.
My personal favorite in this draft is Amobi Okoye. Pretty crazy that he graduated high school at 15 and was the leader of their high school team. Think about it...a 15 year old dominating 18 year old guys.
I never bought into the Quinn hype. I don't think there's that much of a drop off between Quinn and some of the next tier QB's, i.e. stanton / beck.
Here's my dolphins logic for picking Ginn:
Our top needs are QB, OL, WR, and CB. DL is a close 2nd on need.
OK ... since brown and thomas were off the board, OL was not an option with the 9th pick. as evidence, the next OL off the board went at 28.
QB - as I said, not a quinn fan. we pick up 2nd tier QB with 1 of our 2 2nd round picks.
Now we're down to CB and WR, and our needs are equally desperate here. So, i ask the question: which position has more potential for impact next year? WR clearly has more potential for immediate impact (since there are no Champ Bailey quality CBs).
So ... WR is the right pick here. Was Ted Ginn the best WR available? I think so. Maybe Meachem or Bowe, but I love Ginn's speed. And love that he returns kicks.
You might make a case for Okoye here as BPA. I think we address that with our early 3rd round pick.
My guess at our next pick:
40: OL
60: stanton / edwards / beck
71: Marcus Thomas
