So I have the heavy bag at the house that I use a pretty good bit. It seems to get me in pretty good shape along with the lifting and cardio. Was considering maybe learning from a school, trainer or whatever to maybe get me in even better shape or maybe even tap into some undiscovered talent haha. Anyway whats the best way to find a good place to get started and also make sure the place I find is credible? Also how much does it usually cost?

it's going to be like looking for a legit MMA school. you'll find some schools that are more business based than anything else (recruitment and retention techniques similar to national chain gyms), and others that are pure to form and the art. in any particular area you're going to have to do your research and pay a visit to all the places around you. most places won't even let you participate w/o paying, but will allow you to observe. use that to determine the ideals of the instructors, the philosophy they have, and decide if it's right for you.

Well, when I moved to Greenville about a year ago I searched all over for a boxing gym to no avail. The closest one I found was in Boiling Springs which is near Spartanburg. It took a good 25-30 minutes to drive there. It was a nice gym, but the drive really took the pleasure away from going. Greenville really needs a gym. I boxed for close to 12 years in Pennsylvania and have missed sparring and the boxing workout in general since I moved here. If you find anything about a gym opening up, please post it here.

That's sweet. Your lucky to have places like that. Unfortunately, for some odd reason, Greenville SC blows for boxing. I just want a place to hit the bag and skip some rope, maybe get in a few rounds sparring. There's nothing like sparring, gets you in shape fast.Originally posted by THE BOUNCERThere are like 2-3 of some of the best boxing gyms in the country like 10 minutes from me in Staten Island. Teddy Atlas has a gym not far from here.

It's actually a beautiful little city. I would never want to live in a big city again. There's no traffic, no pollution, the city is clean. You're at the base of the mountains and a 3.5 hour ride from the beach. Weather can't beat. :bbq: Only thing that sucks is no boxing clubs, but maybe that will change in the future.Originally posted by THE BOUNCERyou said it, not me. :nerdnew:
