Which are the best cruise lines?

I am looking to take the family on a cruise to Alaska and I was wondering which cruise lines are better than others. Is there a general pecking order for quality, value, etc.?

I have been on Celebrity and Holland America. Going on Norwegian in a few months.

Holland America is supposed to be a step above Celebrity in terms of service and class. Me and Sana found the opposite to be true in every case. While Holland America was nice, Celebrity was just that much better in every way.

I have heard good and bad things about Royal Caribbean. I plan to go on one of their cruises next year to see for myself.

I have heard alot of bad reviews about Carnival but I also know people that loved it.

You wont find many bad reviews about Celebrity though. Everyone seems to love them.

Best site to check out is http://www.cruisecritic.com/ I use this site to read reviews on the different lines and certain ships before we go on our cruises.

I took a Carnival Cruise and had a good time. It was there oldest and smallest ship but the crew was very friendly saw a couple of shows. The ships dock is a 20 minute ride from my house so it was convenient. We are scheduled to get a bigger ship soon and I will try it again.
