Im from Nebraska and we dont have very much here. So to see someone of that caliber come out of Omaha makes me happy. Jardine is a tough guy, and he got it handed to him. I am looking forward to seeing what Alexander can do in the future.

I'm glad to see rampage come away with it. I think chuck hasn't really been pressed lately. Maybe this loss will have him evaluate his game. But now hendo wants a piece of rampage? Man, that's a hard fight right there.

Awsome, got it in england last night, chuck got his head spun and the ref definitely stopped it at the right time. Chuck will be back better and wiser but rampage is one tough dude.

Its interesting; rampage has beaten chuck, wanderlei has beaten rampage, vitor belfort has beaten wanderlei and of all people tito ortiz has beaten wanderlei. One big circle and its all about style matchup but one thing is for sure everyone gets beaten if they hand around long enough, EXCEPT FEDOR

Now with Dan Henderson coming into it and hopefully shogun and wanderlei the light heavyweight division will be the best ever!

I hope other fighters noticed what Rampage did differently: he did NOT pursue Chuck aggressively, and that's why he didn't get KOed like most do. Chuck is a masterful counter-striker...he eats overagressive fighters for dinner. Rampage calmly controlled the center of the ring, and waited for Chuck to engage so he could be the one to land the big counter-punch...perfect fight strategy.

Wandy is not the same man today that he was then when he got beat. Wandy would kill chuck with his clinch.

Agreed, probably, although he does get knocked out, although thats only because he's a freekin nut that will even fight the heavyweights

I watched that clip and well. You guys wont like this but.HA HA. Im very unimpressed. These guys may be very good graphlers and submission specialist. But striking haha.If that wild punch stopped him cold,a boxer would destroy him.Not a top level boxer even one of the continder guys.... That wasnt a powerful punch it wasnt landed on the button so to speak..It was 100% amatuer.

you cannot measure the power behind a punch by watching a clip. i have seen the best of pro boxers get caught off guard by what looks like a weak punch and lights out. to use the word "amature" with any of the UFC guys is just plain ignorant.

                        Right on big lad.

Also you can't look at a punch landed during an mma fight and compare it with how boxers strike and say he should never have been caught like that.

An mma fighter has to look out for wrestling take downs (people shooting for a double or a single), kicks both round house, spinning back and push kicks(leg, mid section, head/neck,) as well as punches (+ elbows in UFC).

                        In terms of just the punches its also a totally different arena, when boxers try mma, even their striking and guard style get them into trouble, typical example would be;

boxer comes in with his traditional straight jab, jab, punch and as he jabs with one hand he puts his other hand to the side of his head to try protect his temple. Fine in Marcus of Queensbury rules with big heavy gloves that cover the whole side of your head. But in mma with little 4/6 OZ gloves someone like chuck liddell throws a long loop over right, will come straight past your little hand, hit the side of your head behind your hand and game over.

Also if you leave an arm out Frank Mir, Monson et not to mention Fedor will rip it off with an arm bar.

Its easy to criticise but the though of trying it makes my bowels go loose!

There are amateur boxers in the UFC, Stephen Bonner was a golden gloves champion, Vitor Belfort was a boxer etc, but unless your rounded in your skills!!

Boxers are awsome though and I can't think of any MMA fighter that would beat Tyson, even now in the boxing ring. I just wish boxing would get some exiting new heavyweights.

Also remember mma gloves are tiny so you feel the punch more, and any punch that twists the head doesn't have to be hard to put you down, see what I mean about the loop over punches from liddell, and see where the guy with the white hair tries to defend with hands to the side of his head, mistake

Anytime you hit a guy between where the jaw and the neck meet, they're going to have a hard time not going down from it. Shit, look at most of george foremans fights. Almost looked like love taps, but i'm sure they were blows hard enough to make you shit yourself.

It's not that I don't like it, but the fact that it's an ignorant statement. Like Bouncer said, you cannot possibly judge how powerful of a punch it was by watching it on tv. There is next to no padding in their 4oz gloves and their hands are wrapped w/so much tape underneath it's like being hit w/a bag of lead. Watch the clip again, you can see the skin ripple from his face down to his lats when he gets rocked.

100% amatuer...do you even think about these thing before you write them? You're probably right though. I mean 24 professional fights and countless punches and kicks to his face...he probably can't take much of a punch to begin with...he's just been real lucky... :laughnew:

That was a great PPV. I can't believe no one has mentioned the best fight of the night... Karo Parisyan and Josh Burkman. That was a very good matchup, which came as a surprise to me. I thought Karo was an easy pick, but he had to earn it. Now as far as new people coming to the UFC... I hope they can somehow bring Fedor over. He's just unreal. I think he's doing fights for either Bodog fights or Sherdog Fights, but still holds Pride's coveted heavyweight title. Would be great to see he and Couture butt heads especially since he says that Couture is who he watched when he was young and he looks up to him.
