One down side tho, it's only couple of blocks away from the Mecca gold's and around corner from pretty big worlds gym. I don't know if you been to that golds gym but it is huge and I don't think people or the pros who goes there would leave that Gold's.
I will send you a pm about getting some info for me. THanks bro.

I have been to the new golds and I have been to the Worlds. I know it wouldnt put any damage into those 2 gyms. But I would think alot of people would love to train at the place where arnold filmed pumping iron and got his start. I think there would be a nice little niche for me there.

Hell yeah - I have my choice of 4 or 5 gyms in town that I can workout at for free and I live about 2 minutes from a "pretty" one - I still find myself driving 20 minutes out of my way to lift in a gym with chalk on the floor - numerous squat/power racks - rusty metal plates and dumbbells that go up to 200 pounds...

That "pretty" gym has NO racks of any sort (from squat to power to military presses etc), they don't allow chalk, the don't allow powerlifting bands, they don't allow grunting or crap like that, the weights are all rubber and the dumbbells stop at 100 pounds, the ac is cranked down to 50 degrees and all people do is fucking chit-chat....

        Makes me want to puke!!!!!!

        :hang:....

That would be bad ass to have an old school gym like that to train in. Only let selective people in. Keep the frat boys out. There are only a couple hard core lifters at my gym. Really sucks. An LA fitness just opened in my area. I went in just to look around. Wow, what a gay ass gym. Dumbbells only go up to 115 lbs. And it's more like a meat market. I just laughed and walked out.

i would buy a bunch of old memorabilia. hang a ton of pics of Arnold and all the guys working out. i would play pumping iron on some tv's.. i would make it a place people come to workout hard. i would have set hours for tourist and shit that want to see the old "arnold gym". like an hour or 2 a day. then it would be off limits and only those with gym memberships would be allowed in. i would have rules about "hanging out". it would be a place to workout. no sitting around or standing around in groups just shooting the shit. man it would be a fucking dream. i would absolutely love it.

wnabeabeast, thanks for all your help with this dude.

Anyone have any incite on legal issues? For example, I wouldn't want this to be any kind of Franchise and I wouldn't want to pay Golds a franchise fee. This would be my gym, I would do all the work and so on. BUT, I wouldn't want to take down the old "Gold's Gym" logo because of its past. What issues could arise if I were to call it for example "Bouncer's Gym, The Original Golds" or something like that. Could I be sued by golds? Is there anything that could protect me from being sued because of its historical significance? I would of course have to talk to a lawyer about shit like this, just thought I would get some ideas from you guys.

Bouncer, I'm pretty sure that as soon as you put Gold's anywhere in the name of the gym...you're infringing on a trademark.

Looks like that's not the case this time.

I think if you had a GYM with gold's on it, that would be a problem. I've heard of people re-naming stuff but keeping the location name. Kind of like naming it

                      Bouncer's Gym
                      "Gold's Original Location"

and then just paying a one time fee for likeness rights.

next time you walk by, throw a fucken molotov cocktail through the window. lol. that gym is no better then an LA Fitness. you have to come to the north east to find gyms similar to the old golds venice.
