OK...well, I went to see Oceans 13 last night, and there was a preview for this movie. Let me just tell you- my eyes were welling up just from the PREVIEWS.

The premise of the movie is based on the American journalist who was kidnapped in Pakistan, and later killed. Apparently, there is a lot of this story that we don't know about, and it looks like an amazing movie. Like, about the guys life, and why he wanted to do this final interview...the one that cost him his life.

Angelina Jolie is even in it, and even though I can't stand that crazy woman, I still want to see it.

Anyway, it didn't say when it comes out, I really want to see it. But, I have really mixed feeling about it. It's sort of like watching a train wreck. You know you shouldn't watch, but you can't stop watching. I get so infuriated when I think about the journalists and contractors that were held hostage and killed, and it just drums up all of those old emotions. That shit just pisses me OFF. And unfortunately, the American media is too caught up in what time Paris had to take a shit that these true crusaders and searchers of the truth are forgotten, or not even given the recongition they deserve.

I'm sure it didn't help that there was a National Guard commercial like 5 minutes before that.

      LOL.

It's funny though, as I get older I have really just found myself becoming more and more passionate about the problems in our society. I want to do SO many things, that I don't know where to start. Animal rights, the war, foster care, I just don't have enough time!

Eh, maybe I'll just run for president and fix all of them. :)

He who believes is strong; he who doubts is weak...

Now stop complaining and get started already - it's admirable to do stuff like that....

          I hear you...Couple initial obstacles-

          1) I need to prioritize and figure out which one I want to focus on first

          2) I will then need to research to make sure whatever I end up doing is worthwhile and will make some difference

The thing that angers me so much is just the fact it doesn't seem like there is much anyone not in politics can do. I mean, I can write 1000 letters to my congressman and senators over an issue...which is definitely a start. But, I almost feel like I need to enlist in the National Guard or something to really "FEEL" like I'm making a difference....who knows.

Everybody has to start somewhere - you weren't born in a posing suit were you ;)

I've been considering getting involved in local things/politics myself - you gotta start somewhere to make a difference and luckily at the local level there aren't major interest groups and lobbyist in everyone's ears so it makes getting things done a "little" easier (except for the potential lack of funds due to the above)...

The biggest thing I've been considering getting involved in has to do with the public school system allowing an elective course based strictly upon Christianity and the Bible - I won't go into it too much because there are quite a few religious zealots (sp?) on these boards but it's still something I'm concerned about....

You're right...you do have to start somewhere. But, as I'm sure you can figure out, I'm not satisfied with small potatoes. I want to leave a mark for the cause. I guess one way to go about it, is to actually get in with the lobbyists and major interest groups....obviously the one you would support. Hopefully just bypassing thei initial local step for more result.

That's a cool thing you are thinking about. I think it's paramount in today's society. And I understand why you won't go into it. It needs to at least be an option since school administrators are so concerned these days with being politically correct. Core values have been deviated three ways to the moon, and core values is what give people strong morals and values. When these things are instilled in people, there is much less chance of them becoming a menace to society.

Red...if you want to change he world you must start with the youth...education is the only change. you will never change adults minds and if you do it will be such a small percent (just think of how many people won't even change a training routine after they have been show a better more effiecient way to train and then multiply that for a real world event). what is the one place that all dictators and evil men start? with the youth. its funny how we as americans don't realize that. we try to stop problems from the outside but we need to get into the next generation and fix the problems throught the educational system. of course the "how" is a bitch because its such a big ambition but you have to start somewhere.

..and you know the people who did it... really didnt make much of a point. To me, I felt like, hey, so you're heartless enough to saw a guys head off and show the world. whats your point? but if they sat down and gave him the interview of lifetime, going back to the beginning of time and explaining whats going on and why in their words then let him go. they would've made a much larger impact and would've been more beneficial for both sides. idk, thats what i think anyway. and red is a good girl, its nice to see people wanting and willing to help others, very righteous.
