I don't know where I came up with this or if it already exists but...

I wanted to get your opinion on whether this would be realistic. A tow truck cab company. Basically use tow trucks as a cab company so that people who drink at night can get a ride home and get their car home. The tow truck driver would be responsible for getting the car on the truck, taking it off and parking it at the customer's home.

As you know the point of a business is to make money. How many people that have had to much to drink are going to think to call a tow company? Also need to get the name and idea out there. That is expensive. It would be pretty hard to make enough to even pay for the tow truck let alone make a profit. Maybe I am wrong but I dont see it as a very profitable business.

Judging the cost of getting a car towed, I don't think people would do it. It would probably be too expensive. You would also have a lot of initial overhead costs...and long-term, or so I would think. Great concept with a lot of heart behind it, but I don't think it would work in a real world situation.

This one sounds like hiring a designated driver to drive your car. My thought was for those who go out and didn't plan and drinking as much as they did. Just out with friends and the plans change a bit and so does the fun. I know cabs are expensive and I know people don't want to leave there car, pay for a cab and then figure out how to get their car the next day. But I also have no idea how much cost there is in flatbed tow trucks (so there isn't any complaints about wear on the tires or car) versus how much people would pay for the convenience.

Nope. This is a tow truck that loads up your vehicle on a flatbed and takes you and your vehicle home together.

Just open a tow truck company and offer that as an additional service...

On the other hand though - wouldn't getting a cab home and then getting a cab back to your car later be much much much cheaper....

ya, i mean it is much easier to get a ride home from a friend or cab. then go get your car the next day. people do that all the time. the ones that don't aren't going to call a tow company.

There's a company in britain that hires drivers on mini-foldable scooters who will drive to you and your car, pack the scooter in the back, drive you home and then take off again on their scooter. I can't imagine they'd have services for more than 20 miles or so though, and the car has to be big enough to fit the scooter in it.

in my area it's called safe ride. u call them up and two people show up... one to drive you in their car and one to drive your car. costs about the same as a cab. but for me.... i just don't drive. I got a $40 cab ride home the other night cuz I had to take care of my buddy. there was no way in hell i was gonna let that guy drive.... I had a couple of beers too and I wasn't gonna risk it for shit. $40 is way cheaper than $4000 DUI.

besides, drinking is retarded anyway. sure i drink beer now and again.... and i'm a dipshit for it.

                      just my 2¢
