I've been away from this site for a while looking to buy a house. Starter homes (ranches, TH, condo's) are 600,000+ - 3/4 bed, 2 bath, etc. WTF

Houses down here are running from the low 100K to a million plus just depending on the location really.

The area makes a huge difference. I remember when I was living in Cali, my mom was selling her house in Texas. The house was about 6 years old, very nice neighborhood (Carolton, Texas if anyone knows the area). It was 2 floors, with two bedrooms with full baths in each and a half bath down stairs. Can't remember the footage, but I think they sold it for just under 200k. I looked up a house in Cali with almost exact specs and almost 20 years old going for 600k in an average neighborhood.

like people are saying in this thread. It depends where you are at. anything from Trenton or south of that is a good deal cheaper compared to the NYC suburbs where i am.

houses in my hood are from 600K-1 mil. just around the corner about 4 miles you can get a house for 350K of coarse the neighborhood is different as is the houses but you get the idea. its al about location!

here in south texas, Houses very from price to price. A 3 bedroom, 2 bath, ranges from about 90-300k. I guess the bigger ones in the nicer parts of town range over 500,000 to 3million..
