  • Do you get Migraines?

I'm sure this is one of those things that I don't understand but why do some many chics, especially younger ones, always complain about them? It always seems like some sort of drama act.

I am sure you are happy that I never get any :)

I do get them!!! OMG, some are worse than others, and if you can catch them at the begining with meds, they go away. I get them every month the last day of my period. It must be the hormone change that triggers them.

A migraine is a strong kind of dull pain and it effects your balance, which can make you sea-sick feeling... it also can make you super-sensitive to light. I have a hard time judging distance, so I try to not drive if I have one.

Mine last about 2 days if I miss the begining of it and don't take my migraine pills. It's hard for me to even work because I have to look at a lit up computer.

I think more women get them because we have hormone shift the entire month.

Ya, my mom gets them. Nothing to joke about either. The pain is absolutely real.

I don't know about the "drama chics" you speak of but if you are implying that women in general are making the migraine up, well my friend I take offense to that.

I think some "girls" do that but a migraine is no joke - you will KNOW if they're being for real or not...

I'm not saying they are making the migraine up, but it seems they will talk about it like it's a fashion statement. I'm sure there are plenty that don't, but like I said, it's probably something I just don't understand. People always tell me it's because I have never had one and if I had I would know.

well i mean if they are really having a migraine headache and not just a regular headache that is a painful thing. if they are just saying it to be dramatic that is a different story. not really sure what the hell we are talking about here. :D

I guess there is no way to tell if it's a real migraine or a drama thing and the fact that I hear about it a lot (and never had one) it seems to come across as needing attention. Not that people having them don't have a legitimate reason to be miserable. I was just looking for more of an unbiased input on the situation.

I get real migraines. There is a very distinct difference. When I get a migraine (which apparently comes on because of the nerve problems in my neck that I wrote about awhile back) the sunlight feels like it is burning a hole through my skull while someone is smashing me in the back of the head at the base of my skull w/a baseball bat. That eventually diminishes to a constant pressure in my skull comparable to what you would imagine it feels like if someone was standing on your head while laying on concrete. Then when that pain starts to fade I get incredibly naseous. That's the best I can explain my experience. Migraines are horrible and I don't wish them on anyone.

Is the source or cause of a migraine different than a head ache or is it just a head ache that went out of control?

Migraines are one of those things that doctors still do not fully understand. So I can't answer that question w/any certainty.

Sorry BLM - my mom has had them her entire life and your description of how they feel sounds about like the way she used to act...

                        Not cool - good luck....

migraines are much stronger than headaches. Headaches are a more lighter feeling thing and ibuprophens will take them away quick.

migraines start slow, but you can tell once you have them how they make you feel all over... ibupropen does nothing for them, it's like eating candy.

                          hope that helps

This sounds about perfect, though I get really sensitive to any sound as well...

I can't function when I get them. Like not at all, and I become the worlds biggest prick. It's weird I can feel them coming on before the pain starts; the change in demeanor and a general unwell feeling are my first clues, and if I can catch them early enough, I can usually avoid them.

                            Migraines are fucking terrible.

my mum used to get them and they were so bad she would be physically sick, sometimes they come with 'an ora' and makes you actually dizzy with pain.

I've had mild ones and the trick is to have meds like codiene or specific brands like migralieve on hand as dg says get them in when it starts.
