I think we have way too much invested to walk away now. The media (vastly liberal/democratic) will portray that we are losing the war and everythings a disaster. i dont believe things are as bad as they seem. from what i can tell we are making progress. Its just not at the pace most would like to see. The cost of withdrawal is worse in my eyes.

I think that is a lot of pride and spin right there, I don't think from listening to a range of media that we are able to leave iraq in a stable, self sufficient and sustainable controlled state. Not yet.

We are training up their people and like someone else said, it may be that if matters improve in a year or two we could scale down a bit but it will take a generation to bring real change.

Its all political. Iraq doesn't want to be seen as weak.

I don't think 'bring them home' is in the playbook just yet, given what's going on with Iran. I think they're just as likely to make a right and march on into Iran next as they are to come home.

                Part One:

WAR ON TERROR = WAR ON SPAMMERS

think about that one, a terroist, is just a human spammer

if u have a country with 25 million pc's how would u stop the spamming?

note: the 25 million pc's have access on there borders to new pc's and new servers

                good luck, guys

i've used that one before, either way

it is a serious problem right now

still the question remains, how do you stop it?

or what is the BEST u can do to solve it

The only way I can see for anyone to truly stop terrorist activity is to fight the bastards tooth and nail at their own game - unfortunately it would be extremely bloody and would break pretty much every international law/moral code known to mankind...

The only drawback is that then we would become the terrorists (although being the biggest "bully" on the block is pretty much how we got here in the first place)....

no they aren't. we are a military still playing by military rules. if we were to fight them in the same way they fight us, we would destroy the whole country. what i mean is, terrorist don't care who they kill. if we had that same view we would have leveled the whole country and any other country that helps them with so many bombs your head would spin.

I watched a thing on the ESPY's last night about Norther Ireland. It really made me think that being there is useless. Basically these two guys, one catholic one protestant, started a basketball organization to allow kids who normally wouldn't interact to play together. The project behind it is to teach the kids of the future generations tolerance. That if you can play on a team together you can learn to live together. Previously the military has been brought in, home grown militias have tried to solve the problem but nothing has worked. So these two guys have basically took it upon themselves to help teach the kids not to hate.

The only major drawback to tactics like that is that it reappears in later generations - it might skip one generation only to rear it's ugly head later on (same thing happened with slavery here in the US etc)...
