I'm still a believer in the "innocent until proven guilty" idea and I don't trust the freakin media. There's also a huge difference between owning a dog fighting kennel and knowingly participating in the killing of dogs in the manner alledged. He hasn't denied owning the kennel, but he has denied that he knew what they were doing there. Let's not lynch the guy just because of an allegation. The only "witnesses" I see mentioned in the article were opponent witnesses. You're going to take the word of other dog fighters? If he's guilty, he'll be convicted. Sure, it doesn't always work that way, but you still have to trust the system anyway because that's all we got.
I don't think it's right to wish the guy's life ruined either. That's vindictive and potentially dangerous, even in a post on the internet. I saw on SportsCenter the other day that one of the guys was questioning whether you should let your kid wear a Vick jersey. Are you kidding me? Would you have a problem with your kid wearing a Babe Ruth jersey? Or a Ty Cobb jersey? Babe Ruth was a womanizer and a drunk and Ty Cobb was an asshole with a nasty temper. He went into the crowd once and beat a freakin cripple who was heckling him. In their day, that was about as heinous as could get for a professional athlete.
Don't get me wrong, I don't condone dog fighting. It think it's incredibly irresponsible and reckless and shouldn't be tolerated, certainly. And while Vick is an incredibly gifted athlete, he's also a freakin douchebag. But he's also a human being and deserves the right to a fair trial and the benefit of being considered innocent until proven guilty.

And it looks like they have!!!! Woo hoo!! Sounds like Vick will have to put his bells away for awhile, GS.
NFL commissioner told the press this morning that he has asked Vick NOT to show up for training camp....

They need to stick that MOFO in with those dogs and let them have their day with him:nutkick:
What a POS:mad: They need to shoot that fucking gorilla in the ass and make him squeal like a pig....
I couldn't agree more..
And what really infuriates me the most, is why? What did these animals do to deserve this?
Most of all, why couldn't he just dump them off at a shelter and allow them to be euthanized humanely. Or, even worst case- why make the dog suffer even more in his death? Can he not show mercy and give them a quick death?

Maybe, maybe not...Originally posted by radoThe motherfucker should pay and the court system should make an example out of him; but that will not happen:rolleyes:
Regardless if he is proven guilty or not, he's guilty in the court of public opinion- and that's enough for me right now. I understand he's hired a really good attorney (I should hope so) who used to be a federal prosecutor. The other thing he has working against him is animal rights activists, i.e.; PETA, the Humane Society, etc. That's one factor that all of the other athletes didn't have to deal with, or receive pressure from. In your standard run of the mill criminal case, you have the prosecution and the defense. You factor in another heavy interest in seeking justice, and it's going to be a circus

Yeah I heard the lil punk commisioners statement.I think its ridiculous. He is being punished without being proven guilty. Its a shame this country has lost it all.The constitution doesnt mean shit. Its a day im embarressed of being american. If hes proven guilty, which from what ive heard is very unlikely, then punish him.I will not be watching any NFL from now on or until there is a new commisioner.I urge everyone who believes in the OLD american way of life to do the same.

How can he sue the NFL?? Did you even read this whole article?Originally posted by Gods SonIf the glove dont fit you must acquit. I cant spell but anyway.I think Vick should sue the NFL as soon as this is over. Then sue NIKE.Asacp peta sue them all for slandering a innocent man.LOL if he did it prove it.Or forget it
"In a letter written by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, the quarterback was told, "While it is for the criminal justice system to determine your guilt or innocence, it is my responsibility as commissioner of the National Football League to determine whether your conduct, even if not criminal, nonetheless violated league policies, including the personal conduct policy."
It's not about slander. It's not about being innocent or guilty! The NFL isn't slandering anyone. He violated the conduct policy. IT's that simple.
And furthermore, Nike and the NFL are trying to protect an image, and project a positive one for althetes. Both entities try and project role models for children, and model athletes. So, when someone is accused of certain atrocities, I don't blame them one bit for pulling the endorsements, and his option to play. They aren't saying he did it- THAT would be slander.Last edited by redsquirrel; 07-24-07, 12:24 PM.
