  • Air travel is so fucking pathetic!!!

    My mother in law was suppose to leave for Poland Sunday from Pittsburgh at 1:25 pm to Newark to Warsaw. Because of weather all flights were canceled after she sat in the airport for 5 hours. Her flight was rescheduled for 6:45 am from Pitt to Phil to Frankfurt to Warsaw. Her flight out of Pit was delayed 45 mins due to the plane coming in that they were taking out. She gets to Phil and was suppose to have an 8 hour layover. That was slightly delayed. She finally got on the plane, got on the runway and had to turn back to the terminals because the A/C wasn't working. They said it would be a couple hours to fix it. They couldn't get it fixed. So they have another plane that had now come in that they can take to Frankfurt, but it will be about an hour to clean and refuel it. She has now been in Phil for 14 hours. She was suppose to have a 5 hour layover in Frankfurt so we thought she would be ok still. But now she is going to miss her connecting flight to Warsaw. They can't book her on a plane quite yet as far as they know of, but she should have something done for her by the time she gets to Frankfurt. But of course we will see...

    FUCK YOU AIR TRAVEL!!!

      Well I'm still trying to deal with it. She is still in Phil. The latest was she stood in a line for 3 hours to get booked on a flight that was suppose to leave at 2am. Well her and some other people got to the gate and there is no such flight. All that is there is a phone number to call. Well of course she doesn't speak English well, so I have been on the phone with US Airways customer service for almost an hour now trying to get this figured out (most of the time on hold). The problem now is that US Airways doesn't have any flights out early in the morning that they can get her on. So they need to book her on another airline, lufthansa or LOT, but they don't have 24 hour numbers. Supposedly they can't do anything until 8am.

        It's now 3am and we have something figured out so far. Her flight doesn't leave Phil until 8:20pm. She needs to be at the counter in 1 and half hours to get reissued proper tickets and possibly see about some sort of accommodation's until then.

          I've never been through something like this when flying, thank God. If that were to happen to me, given the post-9/11 rules in airports, I'd probably end up pitching a fit that would get me tasered.

            Holy fuck! They wonder why people go on rages. My mother-in-law was at the counter and she was told she has to wait until 11am to get some help because they need to take care of the passengers that have a flight that morning.

              I have been through much less then that and received a free flight plus free future destination. If she knows what to say and who to talk to she can definitely get something for this. I realize though that her English will probably stop her from getting much at all.

                so far they gave her $20 to cover breakfast, lunch and dinner....only 4 people out of the big group got it though. She will fly out within next 8 hours and then will have a 5 hour layover in Frankfurt.

                  that is more of an insult then anything. 20 bucks for 3 meals. :hang:

                    They said this has been the worst summer for flight delays and cancellations. It happens so often now they don't seem to give freebies out much anymore. If I were you - I'd still send them a letter letting them know of your disappointment. After all, ya'll had to have spent a good amount of money on that flight.

                      ya, i just saw something on Today about Northwest Airlines canceling 10% of their flights due to "pilots being absent" LOL.

                        Welll that's a good reason lol...

                        Flights are more expensive but the service seems to be less and less. You get a tiny drink (if you even get a drink) - snacks are rare - and now they sell food on the plane - lol...

                          This airline is part of the Star Alliance and we plan on writing a letter to both US airways and them. My parents have worked in HR for decades so they are going to write if for us. We will try and see about getting her flight back in a few weeks paid for and upgraded to first class. We will give high expectations so they give us at least something.

                              i am calm and calculated when it comes to getting something from a company. cursing and yelling will get you nothing when you want something from them. i made them see my point and left them with no argument, the only thing for them to do was give me what i wanted, which was a free flight that they fucked up and a future flight so that i would fly with them again. now if they didnt give me that i may have thrown that fat fuck behind the counter onto the luggage conveyor belt. :)
