  • do you use teflon?

theres been all that shit over the last few years about teflon causing cancer, i been considering changing over recently, they say the danger is when it gets above a certain temp.

Do you guys buy into all that or is all BS

It could very well be true - but I wouldn't continue to cook on a pan if the teflon coating was wearing off anyway. I'm sure you have to actually ingest it, right?

Well I'm not sure what my pans are coated with - but if that's the case, I'm sh*t out of luck because I use my skillets ALL the time.

I don't konw...the studies I saw (I can't remember where but it was about a year ago) showed the levels were OUTRAGEOUS in the rats that they killed with it. kind of like anything we ingest. small amounts okay but over load can be hurtful. hopefully my next set of pans are the non-coated ones but nice...but they are $$$$$$$$, lol.

birds are notoriously more sensitive to fumes than humans are, which is why canary's were used by early miners below ground; when the canary died it meant it meant get the hell out. if heated teflon can kill birds then damn... maybe it's time for me to do my own research and figure out if i should keep my teflon pans or not...

my mom must have killed 5 parakeets by burning a teflon pan. She would pre heat the pan for dinner or something and then go do something in a different room. the teflon pan would start to smoke and sure enough almost instantly, the birds would drop in there cage. lol.

i dont know if the pans i have are teflon or not. they are from ikea and cost about $15 bucks. lol.

i think its a bunch of BS anyway. if you look hard enough, you can find a study that says anything is dangerous. i remember hearing on the news one day that brushing your teeth has "been shown to cause gum cancer". LMAO

a lot of the expensive pans are made with anodized aluminum like analon or circulon brands. that's what we have. (analon) they are great!
