  • Tattoo Idea/Question...

Okay - so I've got my backpiece laid out and ready to go but I'm stuck on a new piece for my arm....

I'm looking to put "This Too Shall Pass" on either arms outside portion or down the back of the tricep - however - I want it to be in Latin. Does anyone know of a Latin word generator that can tell me what this saying would be......

As for the saying - it seems pretty damn fitting for my life nowadays and I figure my next one will be something like "what doesn't kill us only makes us stronger" to match the other side (I'm all about balance :P)....

    I used "The Google"

    http://en.allexperts.com/q/Latin-214...lease-want.htm

"This too shall pass” is in Latin:
    “Et hoc transibit”
    or :
    "Hoc quoque transibit".

    http://en.allexperts.com/q/Latin-214...nslation-2.htm
    This is a bit different
So, "Another day always comes, and this too shall pass” can be translated into Latin as follows:

1- "Alius semper venit dies, et transibit”(literal, but not good Latin)

2- « Truditur dies die et transit » (good Latin)

My sons name (4 letters) with the numbers 7 and then 5 and then 4 between each letter to signify his birthday - all centered across the upper portion of my back. Then over each side of it will be a protective dragon taking the contour/shape of my shoulders/back - one mirroring the other. Everything I will ever get (as of now) is/will be black/red and maybe white...

Right now I'm just waiting on the money portion - I've pretty much got the artist picked out - those damn dragons are just expensive as hell ya know....

I think FB and I also want to wait to get anymore major/sentimental work done for when we're together - I'm sure I'll catch hell for posting this but it is what it is ;)

Sweet man. I stay away from color too. I just like the black and grey work. Sounds like you'll be all tatted up in no time!!

I just got my back finished last week after 4 sessions. Took almost 20 hours to complete. So glad it’s over. Sucks trying to put on the ointment on by yourself. I had to put a sponge on a stick so I could apply the ointment. I know it is going to hurt me if I compete again. By back is totally covered except for a couple inches on my lower back. Oh well, it’s not like I’m making a living by competing.

That sounds cool bro - what's the theme...

I'm hoping to go as far as possible with the sport (at least until I decide the risks outweigh the benefits) - just gonna try to keep the ink as unobstructive of the view of my physique as possible....

I wouldn't use a online translation. A lot of times you will get a literal translation but if someone native read it the way it's laid out from the online thing, it doesn't quite make sense. Kind of like with Spanish if I said Me llamo Shibby, the literal translation is I call myself Shibby. Which in English doesn't come across like you meant. Your in college I would try and find a teacher that knows Latin.

Well do you want it done and then know you have something incorrect permanent on your body?

One of my clients took 4 years of Latin - he said that this one is pretty accurate "Truditur dies die et transit" - good stuff...

That's good. I know I have a Chinese character on my chest that I used an online translation and then found out it wasn't quite right from a Chinese friend of mine 4 years later. Basically it wasn't complete and needed another character to make it say what it meant. But I had changed as a person quite a bit since then and I was lucky that the meaning was even better for me then and now. So it was kind of like getting a new tattoo.
