Hope all is well on the board. I know it has been a long time since I've been around. Getting my house ready to sell, getting married in October, yada yada ya.
Anyway, bumped into a friend yesterday, and he told me that his wife had come down with E Coli. He said it was a particular nasty strain and they were in the process of exchanging her plasma.
My fiancee, the MD, said this sounded very, very serious to her as she'd never heard of E Coli being treated that way, but my friend didn't seem to be extremely concerned. Just kind of had a matter of fact tone about him. He said she'd been sick for almost a week now, but just turned for worse a couple of days ago and is just now starting to do a little better.
Anyway, has anybody heard of plasma exchange for this or any other illness before, how successful it was, how frequentyly it is used, etc.?
