  • Holiday/vacation advice in the US

OK so I've got the time put aside, got some money and will have enough for spends at the time. I'm looking for a holiday in mid October for a week to ten days and was thinking about the US.

Other options are Fuertaventura (cheap and hot), Goa (bee there before long flight 10hrs but very hot at that time.

What me and the lady want is a do nothing or very little vacation, usually we want to discover and we're all over the place but we've promised ourselves we'll just chill this time.

mauritious, maldives carabean all out of the questions since its rainey season there.

So coastal places in the US that will be hot, good food beaches, resorts ?

all recomendations welcome please :usausausa :dancingne

Virginia Beach and Ocean City seems to be popular with the people around here right now.

I really don't know much about it other than Ocean City is in Maryland and Virginia Beach is in Virginia. I didn't pay attention to the part about Mid-October in your post .

You will have to go further south for that time of year.

There are a lot nicer beaches then in VA and MD. I'll be heading to MD next week but just because it is not too far of a drive for me. I haven't been there before but have always heard that San Diego is a beautiful place to visit. And also the Florida Keys look very nice too. Most beach trips I took were to St. Thomas, St. John, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, and Cancun.

It's definitely not going to be hot enough in VA or MD in October. You could go to FL - the weather is hit or miss by October, but there's a good chance it will still be pretty warm. The west coast has some very nice beaches. The Keys have beautiful water if you like to fish/snorkel, but the beaches are nothing. The east coast has okay beaches - depending on where you go. Panama City/Destin/Mexico Beach area all have nice beaches but the weather cools off sooner in N.FL than in South (usually).

it is always rainy season in the Caribbean. That dosent mean it isn't sunny 90% of the time. I have been the the Caribbean many times this time of year. You may get an afternoon shower for like an hour and then just like that the sky's are clear.

as far as the US beaches. my favorite is South Beach Miami and Ft Lauderdale. key west is cool too but it is not a big beach place believe it or not. more of a laid back fishing town. Long Island NY has some great beaches as well as places like Martha's Vineyard farther north.

you could also do the West Coast thing. San Diego, Venice, Malibu, etc..

don't listen to these asshats. Maryland, Virgina, etc..all suck. don't go to those lame ass beaches. :)

:agree: I've been on two or three cruises to the Caribbean in the mid/late Fall season and never had any problems - also, the rates are a LOT cheaper this time of year as well...
