Bobalu Sobral won as well but, will reportedly be fined half of his purse by the Nevada State Athletic Commission and may also face other disciplinary action.
"Former light heavyweight title challenger Renato ‘Babalu’ Sobral broke a two fight losing streak in impressive fashion, grounding and pounding David Heath before submitting him in the second round of their UFC 74 preliminary bout at the Mandalay Bay Events Center, but his victory was marred by a classless display which saw the Brazilian keep a finishing hold locked on seconds after Heath tapped out and referee Steve Mazzagatti attempted to break the fighters to halt the bout."
“I just thought that I needed to teach him respect after he showed me so much disrespect,” said Sobral, who engaged in a heated weigh-in staredown with Heath on Friday and claimed the Oklahoma native had previously shouted an obscenity at him. “I think that you can be fearless and tough and still maintain sportsmanship. He needed to be taught a lesson.”
However, I was pissed they didn't show/talk about the fight that bloodied the mat like it did though. Anyone care to tell me who went through that hell or post a clip of it on here?
To his credit he did fight 3 rounds witha completely crushed nose from when their heads colided. No breathing throught the noseand enhaling all that blood from breathing through the mouth. I would like to see a rematch which will probably happen fairly soon since the heavyweight divisions no that deep, yet.
I think he is a damn tough fighter w/a lot of skill, but he was simply outclassed by a warrior w/more experience and skill.
Very true. He has potential, but he's still too young and doesn't have the experience he needs to take on the top echelon of MMA. He is what mir used to be. Everyone jumped on his band wagon after he got lucky with cro cop and all of a sudden all I hear is how gg could probably eat everyone for breakfast and take a shit in fedor's lap.
