  • The official good memories thread.

This will be a thread about things that bring back good memories from when you were a kid. You must describe what it is and then post a pic or link to what you are talking about.

    I will start it off.

Who here watched TGIF friday nights on ABC? Family matters, step by step, boy meets world, etc.. Brings back good memories.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TGIF_(ABC)

I wonder what happened to shows like this? Why does ABC now show BS drama crap on friday instead of good family comedy's?

I used to love watching The Incredible Hulk when I was a kid. I think I may have even insisted on wearing my green pyjamas while I watched the show, if my memory serves me correctly. Then I'd watch The Dukes of Hazzard, and as soon as that was over, it was bedtime.

Of course, being a Canadian, watching Hockey Night In Canada on Saturday Nights with my dad was a big deal too. Or, in my case more often than not, La Soiree du Hockey (the equivalent to HNIC on the french language branch of the CBC) since my father is a Montreal Canadiens Fan.

I also remember the rule in our house during the playoffs: I was allowed to stay up until the game was over, school night or not, no matter how late it was. My mother would object, but my father had the final say, so I had some pretty late nights for a kid during the playoffs sometimes when games went into overtime.

Because dramas draw their target demographic better than family-oriented sitcoms. It's all about the advertising dollars. I remember the TGIF heyday...good stuff, tho I am a bit older than you, so I was older when I was watching. Still enjoyed Urkel's antics tho.

Growing up in the 80's, I loved all the 80's movies and still watch them when they play on tv. B, you remember Corey Haim and Corey Feldman? Classic.....

I remember that! That was one of the few times that my whole family would watch TV together.

My favorite TV shows were Magnum P.I. and MacGyver.

I also used to watch this cartoon called King Arthur and the Knights of Justice. The characters had animals on their armor and they could change into them.

My favorite cartoon as a kid was The Gummy Bears. I used to want to be one. :D

Anyone remember that movie The Flight of the Navigator? I used to love that movie.

During summer break, we used to stay home and watch old movies. Our favorite as kids was Ben Hur. Don't know why, but we watched that movie a hundred times.

Chuck E Cheese ruled! Pizza and lots of video games...hard to go wrong with that formula. I remember the one in Syracuse had one of those big inflatable bouncy things, and at the birthday party I went to, we were bouncing around having some killer wrestling matches in there. We had this one friend that was really small compared to the rest of us, and I remember being so psyched that I was able to pick him up and do bodyslams and suplexes on him.
