  • Why DON'T You Post...

This question is for all of the members who lurk here but never post.

I've always wondered why it is you don't speak up. I know there are plenty of you who read every single post in every single thread ever made yet you say nothing. What gives?

I know "we" can be hard on SOME newbies but that's only when their questions are not well thought out or they fail to make intelligible conversation possible. Again - why don't YOU post??

I know for myself, I didn't post for awhile for a couple of reasons:

    1. I didn't know shit about steroids or nutrition, so I didn't feel I could contribute.
    2. In stating #1, the only info I could post about was useless general knowledge. I didn't want my first posts being irrelevant or on stupid topics. It would make mods think I wasn't serious...

    Just my .02!

There are a lot of members who only post in the "general chat" sections - that's completely fine and we certainly welcome that as well. Not everyone is an anabolic expert and thank god not everyone tries to act that way. The board can be intimidating but just remember - everyone is here to learn. :)

Very true FB. At least I didn't just post smilies to beef up my post count, like Rado!!

I post sometimes, for now it is mostly in General chat. I read a lot though. As FitnessBrat said, many people are here to learn and are probably intimidated :)
this board has been on for a while and many 'starters' topics have been discussed, that is probably why so many people do not need to start new threads, they can just search through and refer to older posts.

I will post occasionally, but for the most part, I cannot add any further knowledge to most of the questions, especially when the mods or the usual members answer first. Also like you said, people seemed to get flamed sometimes for no apparent reason. And lastly, if I have a question, odds are it has already been asked, and a search will do the trick.

They probably get confused and think Superior Muscle has changed to I Love Fittnessbrat.

I didn't mean to insult any of the mods or the board in general. And I don't have a specific link to a specific time and day someone got flamed :nerdnew: ... But he asked for our opinion and that is why I answered. But please B, I wasn't trying to insult you, the mods. members, or the board. I cannot begin to tell you how much I have learned from this board. But I guess you could say I do it from a distance, and like I said earlier, why post when you can search and almost always find your answer.

More like jab 3 - he got me damn good in a PM the other day - it was a downright nasty jab too :P...

No offense here brother - I know we all have our bad days/weeks/months/years but some of what you've said is why I asked what I did...

I've been on other boards (not just fitness ones either) and the atmosphere at each and every one is different. On some you've got every newbie in the house posting and in others you've got "regulars" but they number in the hundreds as opposed to our small handful of maybe <100 that regularly speak up. I guess what's always puzzled me is how we're one of the biggest boards out there but we have some of the fewest "regular" posters....

I will say two things about all of this though......

                          1. If I ever seem way out of line with a member taking offense or if another member feels I was too curt/mean/harsh on another I would simply ask that they PM me about it so that I can see where I went wrong. Often times I'm posting on the go or in the midst of a life that often spins me in 100 different directions at any given point in time so I may not see things for what they truly are at the moment (and don't anyone think for a moment that B/other mods don't keep each other in check when it comes to this stuff because we do ;))....

                          As for the second thing....

                          2. Posting is a breeze once you get started - it's just that you've gotta start....

I don't post too often because I've always been told that "you learn best with your ears open and your mouth shut", or I guess in this case your eyes open and your fingers off the damn keyboard. However, I do find a lot of the general chat threads amusing and that keeps me coming back. I have been reading on this site since it started and I find myself visiting it daily. I guess I just enjoy learning.
