  • Red Bull

The last two weeks i discoverd the red bull vending machine at work, i been goin through two a day, i feel great on the stuff, i find myself goin up to complete stangers at work and striking up a conversation about the weather or some shit. I usually stay away from soda or this kinda stuff but im thinkin it would be great before a workout....Does anyone use this stuff on a regular basis or know about any long term health effects?

I sometimes take one before a workout...a little caffeine can add a real boost. The trick is not to use it all the time, or pretty soon, you'll build up a tolerance and it won't have an effect any more.

no i dont have research i was just stating my personal opinion. i get dehyrated easy. cafeine is not my friend! i barley get down a gallon of water a day so thoes 2 extra cups of water just makes it worse.

                They have sugar-free red bulls...

There is research being done with the concentration levels of the caffeine mixed with taurine and other stuff. Seeing how it puts stress on the heart. No real info yet. Another weird thing is the the NCAA tells athletes to try and stay away from energy drinks because of the caffeine levels. Basically if an athlete were to drink two red bull's in a row (this is just an example) and happen to be pulled aside soon after for a drug test, the caffeine levels would be to high for what is legal allowed. Just a tid bit of info to think about.

Not proven, but being studied. I don't know who, but someone believes there is a possible danger, so now it is being researched.

                    Personally, I still drink them.

I drink coffee but mainly just because I love it - I've found myself "needing" it at times in the mornings and I hate that feeling of being out of control of my body - I try to keep away from stuff unless it's absolutely necessary to my goals. If I "need" a boost more than every once in a blue moon I try to reevaluate what I'm doing with myself as this shouldn't be "necessary" IMO. Keeping an active and healthy lifestyle should be more than enough to keep you boosted/motivated/able to concentrate etc.

I've never heard of that one. I think they're all kind of yuck and they all taste the same - except the Passion Fruit Rockstar - that one is good!
