  • Ligament sprain for Jonny Wilkinson - RWC 2007

Hey Mr. Incredible, what are they saying in Blighty about this? As an American, I am glad he isn't playing against us but England should have more than enough firepower to win easy. I like Jonny though and hope he gets better soon before the next match.

I read that Olly Barkley is taking over at flyhalf - I don't know too much about him - is he pretty good?

    Hey Scrumhalf,

Personally I'm glad he isn't fit to play, otherwise the team may rely on his past glories to get us out of trouble. The fact is the guy was awsome but he's had bad injuries, lacks match fitness and sharpness and the last time he played he missed his trademark kicks. He's still a great player but it would disrupt the team balance for him to play.

It is a team game and now England need to Know that, everyone needs to pull their weights, the forwards need to keep posession, gain yards and stay in the pocket for 2nd, 3rd, 4th phase ball etc.

The backs need to be brave and break the defence line instead of running sideways and backwards and kicking touch like they have been.

This is the world cup, you gotta try things, fly hack the ball on the floor and chase, flat pass, long pass.

We need quick suprising ball from your namesake and they need to gell, we have the players if they have the confidence, they need to forget about the days of Martin Johnston and think about the Legacy they want to leave behind. England are the same in every sport, they can be brilliant, but they can flop dramatically, all to often they lack the killer spirit and look almost appologetic for showing any passion. Every other sporting country will take any chance they get.

I'm expecting there to be some big guys from the USA tommorrow and I'm sure they can cause an upset if England don't play ther 1 game.

Olly Barclay is a very tallented player and I'm fully behind him now and if one commentator mentions Jonny Wilkinsons name I'll mute the audio!

Yeah, good point on Jonny's match fitness.

USA certainly will give it their all - but they don't have the horses to stay with the top flight teams for 80 minutes. But they are getting better and maybe in 10 years if rugby continues to gain popularity we'll field some of the top high school athletes that today go to gridiron exclusively.

Can't wait for it to get going!!!!

I'm not sure I understand all of this but it's nice to know we have a potential sports writer in our midst!!! :)
