  • Who still uses a telephone line to connect to the internet?

I heard this guy today at the gym telling his friend to check out amazon.com for some gift or whatever. Anyway, they guy responds, "I would man but my internet is so slow, I still haven't upgraded from my telephone connection".

I didnt even know that type of connection still exist. LOL

Yep. I still disconnect a handful of dial-up customers every week. Then when they get a 20/5 fiber connection they are in absolute amazement, lol.

I have wireless on my laptop but dial-up on my desktop - just haven't really needed to get a wireless card for it. BUT I've only had high-speed this year!

I don't get it... can't you connect your desktop to the same line as your laptop?

I have a wireless router connected in the upstairs of my home. Believe it or not, there is no cable drop in my office, so I need a wireless card. My laptop is wireless through the router because wi-fi is built in the machine.

I get on the internet from my cell phone and the computers i have are wireless. Last time I used dialup was like 15 years ago. Although I can still hear the distinct sound...

It's funny. All through high school all I wanted was digital cable, high speed internet and an HDTV. Then when I go to college my parents get divorced and they both buy fancy TV's, high speed internet, and they get HBO. WTF

The only people I know who still have dial-up are in rural areas where there's no better alternative.

adsl is a form of dsl. we are talking about the old time 56k modem phone line type connection.
