The military rank is fine, the silver/gold/etc is fine too.
Honestly, we have so few female members that it isn't a big deal (being manly) - mine will stay "moderator" so I'm not concerned :)
A lot of boards use "custom" titles, and I think *most* of the titles are trashy/junky looking.Comment

ya, this board is changing though so the female members will increase as the board grows. something i need to consider. In that case, the military one might be a little cheesy. Some of the titles may work, but some of them sound a little queer.
Custom titles are pretty much given to people that post often - otherwise you wouldn't know them well enough to give them a custom title anyway.
The silver/gold/etc could work for post count. Or you could incorporate different things together. Make new people bronze/silver and long-timers could be vets or freaks, etc.Comment

I with fb, I like broze/silver/gold & vets & freaks for long-timers.
I also like the military ranks (manly or not) but I'd keep the titles in the same class. Private is personnel while captain & major are officers. I prefer officers. Superior private just sounds queer!
You could drop the superior and just have sergeant major, mstr sergeant ect..Comment

i like the superior part in the title. that brings me to my next question. if i go with the bronze, silver gold route, how will i incorporate that? Superior Bronze dosent sound right and i dont want to add "member" because i don't like that. "Superior Gold Member" sounds lame.
also, yes, private is personnel and captain is an officer. that is kind of the point. to get to an officer spot you need to have a certain amount of posts.Comment
