I didn't read everyone elses replies, but I just bought a new laptop. I talked to the guys at Best Buy and asked them if the $350 ones were fine for internet, email, etc. They said absolutely. All laptops are wi-fi now, and they all were 1GB. I ended up with an HP (about $700) because I wanted a little bigger screen, some cosmetic things I liked, etc.

looks like a pretty good deal actually. dual core processor, 1gb memory, 120gb hard drive. 500 bucks. that is a better deal then the dell.

Sorry B, just saw this message. I have an IBM Thinkpad T43 from work. This was one of the last models made by IBM before they sold the Thinkpad line to Lenovo which is a Chinese company. I don't want anything to do with Thinkpads now - I don't have a very high opinion of Chinese products.

Not in my experience. I know a lot of people at work who recently got newer Thinkpad models made by Lenovo and have had nothing but problems with freezing and lockups.

My work is the same Scrum...we use mostly the T42 and T60. But all of them are the IBM versions, not Lenovo.

anyone have an oppinion on gateway? if they are good i think i will go with the computer that wnabeabeast posted. seems like a great deal.
