Books?

Anyone have some great books they have read recently? I am in a reading mood and I need to order some books. I don't care if it is new or classic, just whatever.

I'm not a Stephen King fan, but that series of books was very good.

I'm not really either although I liked the stand,it and the tommy knockers,those were good books of his.

If you like fantasy, The Dark Elf Trilogy by R.A. Salvatore is phenomenal. Actually, anything by Salvatore is great.

I was just looking at those on Amazon. I have yet to read a King novel.

He is definitely a good author. However, I don't care for much of his material or his style of writing. He tends to go off on tangents and overkill on minor details.

Some of his novels are really in depth,especially the DT series,a far cry from his horror novels.

Dark Tower series is a great read...some of my favorite Stephen King books; The Gunslinger is a unique character, and the unlikely supporting cast make things very interesing. If you want well-written cold war type spy stuff, try "The Spy Who Came In From The Cold", by John LeCarre. For a good novel that isn't too heavy to read, try "The Mark of the Assasin", by Daniel Silva.

George Orwell's 1984, just finished it and it is amazing.

i love the dark tower series as well. i gave up trying to read "being and nothingness"... i wasn't in that highly intellectual frame of mind that i thought i was....

but, i'm re-reading American Psycho.... love that book... it's so interesting. the disgust and isolation that patrick bateman feels for life and the people around him veiled by a materialist and pretty exterior. make you think about how people REALLY are on the inside.... "i'm into murders and executions".....

or, i'd recommend picking up Fast Food Nation if you haven't read it yet... it's a great analysis of how the fast food industry has changed everything that touches our lives from the work force composition, to the agro industry. it's a great read.

Both were real good.

I am currently reading "Under the Banner of Heaven" by Jon Krakauer. It is a real story about a crazy ex-mormon fuck who committed a couple of murders because he thinks he was directed by God to do so and the trouble that the courts had in prosecuting him because of certain laws.

Krakauer also wrote "Into Thin Air" and "Into the Wild"
