i do find it pretty interesting that bin laden was trained by the CIA in the early 80's. the CIA creation of afghan guerrilla fighters (al-qieda?) was, after all, the war which toppled the soviet union and effectively ended the cold war.
anyhow...news of the week:
iran has not had a nuclear weapons program since abandoning the effort in 2003. yet the bush administration continues to try and make us believe they are still dangerous (and probably continue the development of wmd's - just like iraq had them all along. yeah. right.).
and now this? bin laden is, in essence, a fictional character created for the purpose of expanding bush sr.'s vision of a 'new world order'. what is the single most valuable resource in the world? oil. what region contains most of the worlds oil? the middle east. those who control the middle east - control the world. none of this 'war on terror' bullshit adds up. not a single grain of it.

every day i feel a little more like a fool. when you really read into all of this, none of it makes sense in the context that we as americans are being fed. i'm not a conspiracy theorist - but i'm really beginning to wonder about the validity of the whole thing. NONE of it adds up. NONE of it. however - it makes perfect sense if brought into the context of a power play being perpetuated by the US.

We funded a lot of mujahideen during the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, including Bin Laden. Some of them stayed allied to us, like the late Ahmad Shah Masood, the Lion of Panjshir, who inflicted some of the greatest losses on both the Soviets and the Taliban (he was finally assassinated by a suicide bomber sent by Bin Laden). Others like Bin Laden turned against us when our objectives stopped coinciding with theirs.

The consistent problem American foreign policy has had is our tendency to court rogues in the name of realpolitik. To paraphrase Truman, they are all sonofabitches, some of them are our sonofabitches, the trouble is that a lot of times, they don't stay that way.

I said in an earlier thread that the Bush Administration has already safely secured the dubious position of presiding over the 2nd worst policy decision of all time (2nd only to James Buchanan whose ineffective leadership sowed the seeds for Southern seccession). The Iranian intelligence news isn't changing things for the better.

What I find so fascinating is the fact that Bush "claimed" he needed FOUR FREAKING MONTHS to figure out if this info on Iran's nuclear program was ACCURATE??? Excuse me, but it doesn't take four months to confirm information you get from the CIA. WTF do you think the CIA was doing before they disclosed that info to you?!?!?

Just another ploy IMHO, that this administration throws at us to make us THINK they are looking out for our best interests. It's really just sickening that they are going to these extremes in order to appear as a pro-active, if you will; administration.

Did you even watch the video you posted a link to? It's a reporter interviewing some Paki kids in their 20s and asking them what they think of America and Bin Laden. They think he's a CIA plant and the US staged it all to make Islam look bad. Give me a fucking break. What kind of bullshit do you think four random young people from Alabama would say about Pakistan? Would their opinion sway your views?
