Extinctions have been happening since life first emerged from the primordial ooze. However, it has always been dictated by nature. It is only in the last few centuries that man has had an undue influence on extinctions and endangering of species. The pace of extinctions over the past few centuries has been unprecedented and directly related to human activity.
99% of all the animals and plants that ever lived on planet Earth are now extinct.
Just saw it on National Geographic Channel.
I wonder how many creatures haven't been discovered. I mean, there are still parts of the planet that we haven't explored yet. Who knows what animals live in the ocean that we haven't seen. Kind of crazy.
