  • So...sonis bought me an IPhone

This was most of my Christmas gift, since I lost my cell phone a month ago. Although I did want it before I lost it...funny how that worked out. :D

I LOVE IT. It's really easy to use. The only thing I don't like about it is Cingular offers NO insurance on it!!! You can get the insurance for lost/stolen, but nothing if I feel like chucking it at sonis' head and it shatters on the wall!! I find that pretty irritating.

For those of you who have one, any ideas how to send a picture mail message? I've tried, and all it will allow me to do is email it.

They are coming out with a 3G version next year. Not really sure on the details but I think the 3G means much faster internet. Anyone know if the current iphone will work with the 3G or will you have to get a totally different iphone?

Well, I'm not sure I follow you. They stopped producing the 4GB and only sell the 8GB one that I have. I'm not sure if the 3GB would be better than the 8GB??? Will it be like a download or something to the phone, or the actual model of the phone? The internet is actually pretty fast. It just depends where your location is, and where the WiFi is in relation to you.

I would wait a couple months. Verizon just came out w/ there version, so I'm sure Sprint isn't far behind

3G is not in reference to Gigabits. It is in reference to the network. The current Iphone uses a slower network, they have confirmed that iphones next year will be on the 3G network.

Hmmm...interesting. Well I'm at a computer all day, and will really only utilize my email when out of town. The battery does seem to drain, but it just depends what applications you're using.

Get this- went onto the Apple website, and you CANNOT send multimedia messages via text!!! You can only send them via email. Not a huge deal, but totally unexpected.

i use a blackberry and a blackjack right now. i never buy a new apple release because subsequent releases are always MUCH better. but as soon as the 3G version is out, i'll be ditching the blackberry 8800 for a new iphone. they're great little devices. i'll probably get rid of my 80 gig ipod then too because i'm sure they'll have better storage capacity...

Well, it is what it is, I guess. Now, if the next gen comes out and can send MSM messages, I'll be pissed!

I read in the paper about the review of the Iphone, and it did say people wanted more storage space, etc. However, it's not really an issue for me. Here's why- if I'm spending $400 on a phone, I sure as hell am NOT going to be downloading music onto it to listen to in the gym. My Ipod is much cheaper, and way more durable than my touch screen phone.

                      I don't believe so. I don't think it has a HSDPA radio.

Its the type of 3G network that Cingular has.

It doesn't have picture messaging, and it doesn't capture video.

Minor things if you ask me, it is the best phone I have ever owned and I was changing phones about every 2 months. I will be sticking with the iphone until the iphone 2 comes out.

This came straight from Steve Jobs,

Apple’s (AAPL) CEO replied that he was waiting for a chipset that would allow him to deliver 3G speeds with something close to the eight hour talk time the slower EDGE-based iPhone gets now. “Hopefully we’ll see that late next year,” he said.
