This game will be at Ralph Wilson stadium where the Buffalo Bills play. It's at 1pm est. I don't follow hockey, but I will be watching at least part of this game.

The last time they did this, it was in Edmonton...and the windchill took it down to -20C or so. Hope it's closer to 0 this time around...the odds of an injury happening when it's extremely cold are very high.

The temp is supposed to be around 35 for it. When I was home for xmas they were talking about it bit. It's gonna be pretty cool. Only problem they may have is when they resurface the ice between periods. It may not be cold enough for it to be perfect.

will they have some kind of cooling mechanism under the ice or no? what if it is like 50 out? lol

I'm curious what it would be like if it's snowing or raining.

They have laid pipes under the ice and have two massive refrigeration units to pump cooled liquid through them....so it's just like any indoor rink in that regard.

Yeah it's the same rink they used down in Mexico City or something like that and they kept it cooled no problem when it was like 70 degrees out. The problem is resurfacing it.

Can't understand why the ice is so bad....it's right at freezing in Buffalo. Have to wonder if the cooling units aren't working as well as they are supposed to, or if the multiple snowfalls during the icemaking process somehow screwed up the density of the ice.

The temp has fluctuated so much today it's screwing it up. It was like 36 when they started the game and now it's like 25. They were talking about how the temp moving like that messes with the surface.

What a way to end the game. I saw the last hour of it. Great atmosphere with the Snow and all. Real cool and helluva way to go into overtime and a shootout!
