It does look interesting. But wouldn't something that wiped out the entire human population take most of the animals and the buildings with it? i.e. comets, meteors, sun blowing up, biblical stuff, etc.

the idea behind the show is that humans just disappear. maybe a virus that only kills humans etc.. it shows what would happen if thing like the Hoover damn were not maintained, sky scrapers bridges etc.

Watched the show last night. It was ok, just a lot of things said over and over. A lot off corrosion, wild dogs, and plants. It was interesting. I know this is a "what if" show. I'm not too big on the whole theory about humans "disappearing". Even if we all died suddenly, (which is what they are getting at because of the pets trapped in the houses, etc.), where did our bodies go? That would have changed things because animals would have fed on us, etc. It would have changed things.

Another thing I didnt understand was the negative tone they had over the whole thing. They showed virtual shots of trees, plants, and animals flourishing on the earth, and they had horror music playing. I mean I'd hate for the human race to disappear but there is nothing wrong or scary about nature living on and developing.

you just have to take the show for what it was and imagine if humans were just gone.

they weren't playing the horror music at the thought of nature flourishing. they were playing it at the thought off us just disappearing and all of our building, houses, and landmarks crumbling against the power of mother nature and time.

that bring up a different question, anyone notice that the history channel is getting further and further away from anything that has to do with history? lol. should be called the modern/future channel.

I get that, but I don't know. The whole thing about our man-made culture fading away and nature taking back over didn't seem negative to me at all, even if that does mean our buildings crumble. I remember one scene in particular where they were talking about fish and underwater life coming back. They were playing horror music during that. I just didn't get a lot of it. Like I said, interesting show, but I just disagreed with a lot of it. That's part of what made it interesting though.

i don't think it was supposed to be negative, it didn't come across to me that way. admit it though, chernobyl is a creepy fucken place. imagine if the whole world was like that. i dont know about you but it would be pretty creepy. not saying mother nature taking back over would be a negative thing, just saying that from a human perspective, it would be a little scary.
