That guy who always follows the hot girl around. Then he trys to "show" her how to do the excerice the right way by getting behind her and helping her. Its pathetic.

Fat trainers drive me crazy. Not the ones that are decent size but not lean, the ones that have a beer belly like the typical 80's father. I just want to ask the people, "What makes you think he knows what works best? Now if he has the knowledge, how can he properly motivate you if he can't motivate himself".

Maybe he has an injury that prevents him from workout properly, or a medical condition..... maybe he is a single father working 2 jobs to provide for his family.. Do either of these factors mean he cant properly train people? Not trying to start anything, just saying you dont know their story.

Those are all valid points but if he has an injury do you want him spotting you? How many people have very busy lives and find ways to stay healthy? As with everything there is a legitimate few who can't help it, but the majority can.

I agree Shibby - I personally wouldn't not choose a trainer that looked worse than half the people in the gym. You have to agree Nekrawulf, appearances (whether they should be or not) are important in choosing someone you *hope* will improve you're own phyical appearance.

Sort of like I wouldn't let someone do my makeup if their own makeup looked like a clown.

then you better be limping ... i might agree if you said disability such as MS.
basically your selling yourself as a PT either you have the credentials (trained ppl for bb'ling, trophys, education, experience, reputation, etc.) how you present yourself is very important to getting clients in a service based industry. its isnt going to help your cause if you are obese. how can you tell someone your going to get them in the best shape of there life if your a slob. its not the most fair way to judge ppl but its the reality of it...human nature...if your good looking your going to get more clients also...its one of those "walk the walk, talk the talk" things the bottom line is hte good ones will have a good reputation.

                            - I hate screamers. The guy that is using 70 pound dumbbells and is screaming like he is giving birth. Attention getters.

                            - I also hate when people don't wipe down the equipment after they use it. If I'm getting on the equipment next and there is a big sweat mark on it, I'll tell the person to get a towel and clean up their mess. No reason for it.

                            - The first time roiders. They put on 20 pounds of water and think they are king shit. They are all puffy looking and have zits all over their shoulder. But they think they are bad ass because they can now bench over 225.

If you go by the preach what you say rule...

Tell me why some of the best olympic level coaches, never made it to the olympics themselves, and are certainly no where near olympic level conditioning.

In particular... gymnastic coaches or wrestling coaches... many are overweight, middle aged men.

Are they not worthy to coach these atheletes? Because they dont look like elite athletes themselves.

I plan on coaching altheletes for the rest of my life... even when I can no longer sustain my own high intensity workout schedule....

Does this mean that I will lack the knowledge to get other people into shape, simply because I lack the means/desire/willpower to push myself to those limits?

John Hacklemen, Greg Glassman, Mark Rippentoe are a few people who teach elite fitness.... but are by no means elite atheletes themselves.... they clearly do not know what they are doing. Because they dont "look" elite.
