It's a documentary on middle school students and the social challenges they face. I am 10 minutes into it and it's shocking the hell out of me. I swear I am going to home school, lol and if I have a girl next she will hate me.

The shit they are talking about sounds like what was going on when I was in high school. They are talking about (and using the exact words) giving guys head, being fingered, giving hand jobs, having drinks... These are 11-14 year olds talking.

Honestly I think it is defiantly something for you to see. It is a crazy insight too how times have changed. It's one of those prepare for the worst hope for the best things. Trying to ignore the truth convincing yourself it doesn't happen never works. Not at all saying that's what you are doing, but I am seeing something I had no idea happens at this age now. You probably have a better insight have girls that age right now though.
Right now it's showing an inner city kid skipping school, hanging with bad crowds and talking to his mom like she is a subordinate.

It just gave a stat that "26% of 12 year olds said they were unsure about their sexual identity"
I don't know if I believe they understand the identity part. I think they more have an idolization. But they are showing boys and girls who claim they are gay. One girl is telling people in class that she is a lesbian.Last edited by Shibby; 01-29-08, 09:34 PM.

these hbo specials or any media use the absolute extremes bro. they have crews go all over the country and the piece together the most shocking stories. i understand that these things happen but don't think it is absolutely normal for every middle school or child that age.

I understand that these are the minority, but it even being a possibility for middle school kids is what's shocking. They are showing kids from all different ethnicities, economic class, public school, private school... Even if this isn't what most the kids are like, it's very informative to know that this kind of influence is around.

i guess my point was, dont take it so far and shelter your son so much so that he turns out a little strange. over protective parenting can be a very bad thing. just look at rado. :POriginally posted by Shibby View PostI understand that these are the minority, but it even being a possibility for middle school kids is what's shocking. I don't want my 12 yr old brother being a father at 12-13yrs old....i gonna take him to the docs for a vasectomy

it's the same as when we were kids...it just may be that it wasn't you who was talking about this stuff. I think we forget what it was like to be a kid and look back as an adult with rose coloured glasses. Kids haven't changed. The internet may have sped a few things up, or reached a few kids that wouldn't have had access to information in another age, but kids have been sexually active, getting into trouble, being disrespectful since Christ was a cowboy.
I work in schools and kids are the same idiots they've always been.
