this is part of the reason i was saying that i dont like plasma, they provide a great picture etc only when the conditions are perfect.
Ya what a pain in the ass. I just wanted the best picture I could get. My plasma puts out some crazy heat Im guessing thats whats causing the "burn in"

good thing for the first time in my life I got the warranty. In a year or 2 Im gonna hook that bitch up to my battery charger and fry it so I can get a new one. hopefully they have the burn in fixed by then.lol.

The 'burnt image' only happens when something is sitting there for a LONG time. We have had a plasma since...1999/2000, hell it was so long ago I couldn't tell you wen my Dad bought it. No burnt images, etc. However, I worked at circuit city and they had a plasma they used as an LCD monitor to simply display the windows desktop......that image burnt in quickly and permanently.

well thats something else about plasmas. they are terrible in terms of energy consumption. use tons of electricity.

the burn in isnt really from the heat that the tv puts out, its more about how the technology displays the image.

              Bounce,
In terms of what plays what I agree with you, Microsoft could care less. However, if they elect to go Blu-Ray they adopt a format of their primary competitor in the gaming world--Sony, who created the Blu-Ray format and holds all patents to it, much like Panasonic does with DVD technology. Meaning they would have to pay for the right to use it...Regardless, I think you are correct that Blu-Ray will win, the only question is how long, Microsoft and Toshiba hold out...Blu-Ray is hands down a better format.

Plasmas are great if you have the setup correct to watch it. Unfortunately you damn near have to have an engineering degree to make it work if you have varying formats---satellite, HD-DVD, Blu Ray, surround sound blah blah..it sucks trying to dial it in. For plug and play LCD is great and it is with 1080p technology and a Blu-Ray player you cant tell the difference anyway...Another one not to overlook for the price is rear projection LCD's. I saw a Samsung 67 inch rear projection LCD in 1080P for 2300 bucks last week at Costco. That is a smoking deal for anything in 1080p. If you aren't all that concerned about hanging it on the wall and dont mind about 8-12 inches of width on TV that is a very affordable option that alot of people breeze right by. The bulb has always been a weak point but technology is improving...Panasonic now gives a warranty to replace the bulb for their LCD rear projections for 5 years.

I have a rear projection sony 70" that is great but its down stairs. This one Im talkin about is in my bed room where I wanted it on the wall. I have this cool as picture frame around it and when the TV is off it still looks bad ass.

But I dont see how Microsoft even has to elect to go Blu-Ray. They dont make movies, they don't make disk players, and they dont make computers. what i am saying is, they are not even in the same market so to speak. yea, sony makes the PS3 and is the head of blu-ray. but thats like saying sony should be concerned about microsoft because of its Operating system (windows). the 2 dont really have anything to do with each other.
