while i believe in science over religion i would also like to believe that i will see past family and friends again. the problem is that doesn't make any kind of sense to me and its a scary thought.

just wondering what your thoughts on that are.
I see it as a form of comfort without closure. You want to convince yourself it's not over and that there is more to help you sleep. I don't want it to sound like I'm insensitive or you are wrong for trying to find comfort. But I think the mind is too powerful at times to let yourself fall into an uncontrollable depression because you lost control of what you thought was absolute.

I'm not saying I'm unbiased because I most certainly am. I have made the choices for myself that make sense to me. But I have experienced both sides and you can't say that I haven't. Half of my life was given to religion. There is no way to say I am closed minded or unwilling to look at the other side. An objective opinion is my opinion on what I have observed. I can most certainly give my objective un-closed minded opinion because my mind has seen many different perspectives.

no doubt it's sad. There are a few things that I really regret, like the fact that my gf never got to meet my grandfather, so i feel you on that one.

It's just more unusual and I'm a bit curious.

                          I claim no Denomination.
My mom read me the Bible and taught me form it growing up. I also have read a good deal of the Bible. If I do attend Church I attend a Catholic Church because a Priest there saved my life. Id be dead or in jail if it werent for him.
I try to lead a Moral life, help those that are less fortunate than I and just be as caring to others as I can pretty much.
Its comforting having faith in God.

                          To each their own though....

That's fine. So you don't really believe in plains of existence, it was just the choice word you used for heaven. Right?

I agree with a lot that i read... fuck its 4 pages I skimed some of it. I personally dont have anthing agaisnt regious ppl its the fanatics and antiabortion nuts i cant stand. Ppl who try to impose there believes on you every chance they get. make it a political topic, separation of church and state BS. It has good moral values which cant hurt.

The philosopher Aerostatle struggled with this topic a lot (not that i read his stuff much) - but i remmembered one thing he talked about was aethism and religion. He spent his life trying to figure it out. basically he concluede it doesnt hurt believing in god b/c if u die and your wrong it doesnt matter, whereas if ure an atheist and you die and your wrong well youll have to spend eternity in a lake of fire LOL. in short, so why not? then i think he killed himself LOL j/k
