T-mobile AT&T Cingular GSM HTC Unlock MDA WING TOUCH Smart Phone

I saw this phone and in the specs it says wifi enabled. Does that mean it picks up wifi with no extra service?

My Blackberry is useless except for letting me know If I get an email I have to deal with immediately

the upper-end Dell Axim line is very nice. our doctors use them a lot to manage appointment times and approve transcriptions. the Dell's are pretty nice if you're not looking for a phone...

pocket PC's are king when compared to smart phones for document editing. smart phones are jack's of all trades, but the master of none. they're getting a lot better now though. i have a blackberry 8800 and a blackjack. the blackjack is crap, but i love the bb. when it comes to document editing and such - smart phones are worthless, so i understand why you have the need for a pda. have you considered an ultra-portable notebook?

We didn't look at portable notebook. I guess the best way to describe it, she would use it as a jump drive that she can work on anytime. She can't always run across campus to the computer lab that is available.

ultra-portables are generally sub 13". the most recent is the macbook air, but you could get much more bang for your buck by sticking with the pc side. you'll pay a bit more for a tiny notebook computer, but they're FAR more flexible. you can also get a portable fold-up keyboard for the dell pda's to give it more of a laptop feel. pretty cool...

as far as specs, you can find them over at dell's website. be sure to check out cnet for reviews and what not....

just go with the one that best meets your needs....

I know Bouncer will have something smart to say, but I can't find anything on the Dell website except a banner. I did find this though, so we are seeing if it's still available. DELL AXIM X51V pocket pc loaded w/ 2GB SD card - sale!!

comparing a notebook to a pocket pc is like comparing a lawn mower to a Ferrari. people that have pocket pc's have to go out of there way to find a use for it. "hmm, let me set a reminder for myself that i have to sleep tonight." :drunk:

No - you still have to have service.

You are kind of having a Radoesk moment :) Just because the PDA may not work in your life, doesn't mean no one has a use for it.

he said he wants a PDA, so i'm just trying to give the guy the info he asked for. and i said that an ultra-portable would be FAR more flexible than a pda....but the man wants a pda. they do what they were designed to do much better than a smart phone. have you ever tried to edit a document with a smart phone?? it's an exercise in futility.

you and your wife dont have a use for it.

just watch and see. go buy the nicest most expensive one you can find, i promise you, in a year it will be sitting on a shelf with dust on it.

just trying to save you some money on an obsolete item bro. thats all.
