  • Question...

Why are there always 1500 visitors logged into SM?

  • #2
right now i see 1572 and that will change through the day. it is an average of how many people are visiting the site from google etc and how long it takes the cookie to expire.

I'm sorry. I should have said, "Why are there always around 1500 people?" Question being, appx. 15-1600 people just come and lurk? Really? For some reason that seemed outrageous when I made the thread. Then when I actually think about it, its not that bad I guess. I feel like the ratio of users to browsers seems high.

There lies the challenge of getting those lurkers to register and contribute.

I bet half of them get here by searching something like "bench press" or "squat" on google and find one of our threads.

not half, most. that is how most people find the site. going to google and typing in things related to steroids etc..

newbiechris, 95% of people will search for what ever they are looking for an once they find the answer, they leave. 5% or less actually register and post.

Interesting what searches yield this site as a result. I don't even remember how I found it actually.

I still think the ratio is low. So many car forums I'm on have something like a 2/3 user/browser ratio. For every 2 users there are 3 browsers. Here it seems more like for every 1 user there are 7 or 8 browsers. Maybe different types of forums yield different types of users. Not trying to insult SM, I'm just a curious person.

yea, i think the main topic of the forum can have an effect. people might be more willing to openly talk about cars then there own steroid use etc..

well look at the way most newbis are treated. they ask a silly question, and then get hammered by everyone over it.

In the car fourms I post at if you ask a silly question the worst they say is use the search function.

I also think working out and BB life styles are phases for most people. for me its life I have been doin this for 15 years and will do it for a few more.lol. like B said they find there anwser and leave to never come back and probably never workout again.

I think people here are helpful. I wouldn't have stayed otherwise. I also think that the response to Newbies here is very similar to those at car forums I frequent.

you know what I was thinking about threads that have gone wrong and thoes are pretty much only the threads RADO posts in. I take back my statment with a asterix(sp?) if rado post in the thread.
