Put football players on a rugby field and even though they're probably going to lose the game, they'll still be able to compete. But put rugby players on a football field and they're going to get completely humiliated.

Either way, those guys are all nuts.
your getting confussed between Union and League, they are constantly hit running flat out in league. Leaugue is much faster than Union and much faster than NFL. You guys would proberbly not have seen a league game. Union and League are to different codes, league is not played internationally.

i think its important not to put down either sport. the nfl is tough and the speed in which they play is insane. rugby is blood and guts and requires tons of endurance. i respect both sports and the players very much.

I agree tho alot of the comments here are based on rugby Union, there is no way NFL is faster than rugby league. Im not putting down NFL tho.

yea, i cant say because i haven't watched much rugby. not because i am ignorant to it or not interested. we simply do not have it available to us to watch on tv etc. i wish we did, i would probably like it.

I found this video that shows hits from Australian Rugby League and NFL.

Tubearoo - The World's Video Network

The games are totally different. NFL players wouldn't have the endurance to play rugby and rugby players don't have the size and strength to play football. But when it comes to the brutality of big hits, I'd say it's even. I still don't think the rugby hits look as hard, but without pads they're just as brutal.

I noticed with those NFL guys, because ther wearin helmets they can pretty much use their head as a battering ram in a tackle.

I just saw the results of the latest NFL combine. Not that those numbers guarantee anything. Take Tom Brady for example, his numbers sucked in the combine, but now look at him. Winning the Superbowl 3 times, then ruining a perfect season by sucking the big one in a fourth Superbowl. See, you never know what to expect.

I posted this in this thread because of the debate over rugby league over NFL. I give you:

Darren McFadden, RB from Arkansas. 4.33 40, that's pretty damn fast.

                Rashard Mendenhall, 4.45 40 and 26 reps with 225.

                Jonathan Stewart, 4.48 40 and 28 reps with 225.

Chris Johnson, RB from East Carolina. 4.24 40. Are you kidding me?! That's faster than Dion Sanders, BTW. And it's the fastest electronically confirmed time in combine history.

Chris Long, DE from Virginia. 6-4 275, 4.75 40, 34 inch vertical leap.

And here we have, Vernon Gholston, DE from THE Ohio State. 6-4 258, 4.67 40, 35.5 inch vertical, 37 reps with 225.

Not only big, strong and fast, but athletic. And these guys aren't even in the NFL yet, they haven't even been drafted yet. They will be, and their performance is yet to be determined, but these are some of the top prospects. That, my friends from the southern hemisphere, is why they wear pads in the NFL. :fufool:

So the girls can see their asses. :D

It probably has something to do with keeping their pads in place. It probably also gives opponents less to grab at.
