  • Tree limb fell on my car....

Well I was debating on whether or not to sell the car. Well the decision has been made for at least a month while I get it fixed after a stupid ass tree limb fell on it. Just cosmetic damage... a few dents, some nice scratches, etc. $500 premium is going to suck a little bit, but it could be worse I guess. Oh well, she'll be pretty again in a few weeks.

Still debating on whether or not I'm selling the car or not. I really thought about it and I don't think I will benefit much financially by selling it. It has been super reliable and once it gets into high mileage territory I don't think it will require much more maintenance than any other car....

On a side note... I am renting the house I am at for the year. The tree limb that fell on my car came from the tree on my landlord's property. Does he hold any liability???

dont sell the car. you have plenty of miles left. you will regret the extra money you have to put out for a new car.

Word that's what I was thinking. The Mazda has been close to the Toyota I used to have as far as reliability. Thats saying something.

When I read the title, I instantly thought it was totaled. Sorry to hear your bad news.

As for liability I think you would have to prove it happened because the branch needed to be trimmed or something. You know, because it was unsafe for it to be there.

I'm pretty sure that even though it happened outside, it still goes under your car insurance. I questioned that in one of the hurricanes we had, and that's what the homeowners insurance told me.

Update! Called my landlord today and he immediately called his insurance company. Turns out this is fully covered by his home insurance so they are taking over the tab. Cancelled my estimate with my car insurance. Good to go!

Loaner cars can be pretty crummy sometimes....I got stuck with a damn Sunfire for three days some years back when I took my car in for body work.
