  • Just got a cash offer...

on the RX8 for $15,000 up front. I informed the lady that the repairs from the tree limb are being completed. Now I am really stuck. I love the 8 and I thought I had made a decision. But with the market the way it is, a deal like this is hard to pass up. :dunno:

DAMN, sell it bro. An offer like this is gonna be hard to find.

Think of it as a down payment on your new EVO MR :D

Haha I've become realistic since then. A car like that is a few years down the road. Now that I have experienced "apartment life" for a few months with my fiance, I am staying conservative and saving for a down payment on a house. Plus I would get the GSR over the MR any day.

Anyway back to reality. I am trying to figure out what to do IF I take this offer. I have one plan... I might get the $15K from the buyer, and take a $17K cash offer with me to Mazda and try to get a decently equipped Mazda 3. I could drive the Mazda 3 for a year or so, at which point I would pass it on to my future wife and get myself something I want. Driving a Mazda 3 for a year isnt the most exciting thing, but I have to think smart. It is a reliable car, I will have the full warranty, it gets good gas mileage, it will give me the opportunity to save up because I wont be paying for maintenance. Plus my fiance is currently driving a Ford Focus with 120K miles. She is going to NEED a different car within the next year. This is just one idea but it seems to be the smartest I can come up with.

Good solid statement bro. Now that ur gonna be a married man, u need to act like a 'good' husband. Down payment on a house is a good idea, and u can't forget about puttin money aside to cover both of ya f somethin bad happens. If you want somethin good and reliable, with a hint of speed, try a Mazaspeed 3. My friend has that car and loves it.

I was thinking about it, but I don't know. I could live with the hatch look. But the simple fact that I am only going to have the car for a year or so before I pass it on to the lady makes me wonder if its worth the extra 5K. Plus if I get the MS3 I might not want to give it up!

lol, ya bro, first talk to her and see what she thinks. Since technically she is gonna get a car in a year, shop around and see what you both can agree on.

Too bad you don't live in MD, i could've hooked u up wit a infiniti.

Take the money, spent 5k on a beater for 2 years and save the 10k and some more. You will be more than ready to buy a good car in 2 years then...believe me this will be the best decision you ever made.

This is my other option. Tough decision between the two. Because if I got something like say, a Mazda 3, the fiance wouldn't need a new ride for a good bit of years. Maybe even 6 or 7. If I bought a beater then in about a year or two we would probably be looking at buying 2 new cars at the same time since we would both have beaters. Get what I'm sayin??
